Watering three days a week gives your lawn all the water it needs to survive the summer months in Colorado. Below is an image with suggested run times, per zone, based on type of irrigation system.
For even better coverage, utilize the cycle and soak method. Split water run times into three cycles. For example, if you have a rotor sprinkler head with a recommended 31-minute run time, set your sprinkler system to run for 10 minutes, three times in one day. Repeat for three days a week.
Most Highlands Ranch soils have a high clay content, which makes it less permeable than sandy or silty soils. Because of this it takes longer for water to soak in. Utilizing the cycle and soak method gives the clay soil time to soak up water between cycles and helps prevent water from running off into the street.
