HOLDING ON WHEN FAITH IS TESTED

Do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord, no matter what happens.

Hebrews 10:35, NLT

After a life-altering surgery, a young woman woke to devastating news: she would never bear children. Just days earlier, she had accepted a marriage proposal from her long-time boyfriend. Her faith, once strong, shattered in an instant.

"You’ll be okay once you’ve healed and go back to teaching your children again at church," her mother said gently.

"I’m not going back," the young woman replied. "I’m done with church—and with God."

Her grief was not just physical—it was spiritual. In her pain, she tore the cross from her neck and turned away from the God she once trusted.

There’s no getting around it: suffering is part of the Christian journey. Deteriorating health, rebellious children, financial hardship, job loss, marital strife—these are just a few of the trials that can shake our faith. In moments like these, it’s natural to ask: “Where is God? Why is He allowing this?”

How do we hold on to our faith when life tempts us to abandon it?

By fixing our eyes on the One who endured—Jesus Christ.

He was ridiculed—yet He endured.

He was misunderstood—yet He endured.

He was beaten, spit on, and mocked—yet He endured.

He carried His cross to Calvary and gave His life for us. Because He endured, He now sits at the place of highest honor beside the Father, preparing for His return.

His endurance was not just for Him—it was for us. Because He endured, we can too.

As Corrie Ten Boom once said:

"If you look at the world, you'll be distressed. If you look within, you'll be depressed. If you look at God, you'll be at rest."

Are you facing a storm that’s testing your faith? Fix your eyes on Jesus. He endured it all—and because He did, you can too. With hope, courage, and unwavering trust.

Sharing the Word,

Jeaninne

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the great example of how to endure suffering in the form of Your Son, Jesus Christ. When I feel weak, remind me of His strength. May I continue to look to Him and trust You, even when the path is hard. Amen.
