Donald Trump vs Pope Francis for President
Donald Trump is running for the presidency of the United States of America.  Howard Fineman, Global Editorial Director of the Huffington Post, headlined his article:  Pope Francis Wants To Be The President Of The World.  He then observes, "But shrewdly, methodically and with a showman's flair, the soft-spoken, 78-year-old Argentinian Jesuit priest named Jorge Mario Bergoglio - Pope Francis - showed Thursday that he is running to become president of the planet (Huffington Post, September 24, 2015).

First, Francis attacks Trump's claim to the Christian faith by declaring recently, "A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian...This is not in the gospel." (Reuters, February 18,2016). He was of course referring to Trump's campaign call to build a wall along the border of Mexico and the United States to keep out immigrants. Then, Trump responded, "For a religious leader to question a person's faith is disgraceful. I am proud to be a Christian and as President I w ill not allow Christianity to be consistently attacked and weakened". He later called Francis 'a political man'. To which Francis agreed.

Donald Trump's Senior Advisor, and defender, Dan Scavino, followed up by tweeting that the Vatican, the church/state entity that is the Pope's country, is 100% surrounded by a wall. Another supporter of the Donald, New Hampshire State Representative, Susan Delemus,  declared the Pope to be the antiChrist .

In this skirmish along the way, Donald is not deterred from his ambitions to become the next president of the land of the free and home of brave. Francis is faring extremely well in his efforts to becoming the president of the planet.  Check his progress.
Where Are The Protestants?
He sprang from the ranks of poverty. His was a reputation of moral and intellectual excellence. His desire was to become a priest in the most powerful  ecclesiastical  establishment of his time. Through dedicated study, great sacrifice, fervent application of himself and abilities, Martin Luther achieved his cherished goal of being ordained a priest in the Papal church.

He was assigned from his cloister to be priest and professor at the University of Wittenberg, Germany. This was a monumental achievement for someone of his humble beginnings in a period of time when such was the lot of a privileged few. The Middle Ages was also a period a tremendous spiritual darkness. In fact, it was referred to as the Dark Ages.
Luther Nails His 95 Theses on Wittenberg Church Door

But marvellous light penetrated Luther's mind as he immersed himself in the study of the Holy Scriptures. He struggled deeply as he tried to reconcile the traditions  and errors of the Papal church with the teachings of God's word. Finally, he resolved to accept God's word and reject the teachings of his church which was diametrically opposed to God's truth, and are still held by her today. His act of displaying his list of protests against his church on the door of the Cathedral of Wittenberg, on October 31st,  1517,  gave rise to the Mighty Protestant Reformation which changed the world for the better.

As Pope Francis' seeks to regain his church's lost supremacy,  and in the process engages the help of leading Christian ministers, the question begs to be answered, "where are the brave hearts like Luther? Where are the Protestants?
