Dear Families,

My name is Frances Kweller, and many of you know me as the Director of Kweller Prep.

Today, I am reaching out as the founder of the First in Family Fund, a non-profit dedicated to helping students become the "First" ones in their families to go to a specialized high school, top college, and beyond. I am asking you to please start the school year by donating!
The Fund is looking for corporate sponsors, foundations, families, and friends to support our education nonprofit and provide matching funds!

Mission Statement

The First in Family Fund ("FIFF") a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to leveling the playing field for first-generation students.

We deliver free, high-impact tutoring, STEM learning, SHSAT specialized high school, SAT/ACT college prep and/or college tours so that students from immigrant and underserved families can succeed in middle school, high school, and beyond.

We also partner with other mission-aligned nonprofits to provide holistic services in the performing arts, health, and wellness. We are dedicated to supporting K-12 students in every way.

Free ELA and Math Tutoring

The First in Family Fund ("FIFF") has helped students within the community for free for over a decade. Through tutors, teachers, and volunteers, Kweller Prep is a proud partner in supportng this initiative.

One of FIFF's projects includes running a NYS and NYC funded afterschool program, in partnership with DYCD. The program is 100% free for students.
Notably, primary winner Phil Wong shared that "Frances Kweller runs one of the best free after-school programs in Queens".

Free Books on Financial Literacy

Free "Meet the Author"

First in Family Fund partnered with the nonprofit Admissions Squad. Students received a copy of "Teach Me to Invest, Mommy!" written by Tai Abrams.

Free Science Exploration

The First in Family Fund partnered with the nonprofit Alley Pond Environmenta l, an environmental education organization, to offer free in-person science lessons.

Free Summer Programs!

Free Music Lessons

The First in Family Fund partnered with the nonprofit Harmony for All to provide accessible music education.

Free Yoga for Recess!

FIFF partnered with Yogahutt, a NYS certified 100% woman-owned business to provide wellness classes for students prior to ELA and Math state exams.

Free Chess Classes

The First in Family Fund provided free chess instructors and classes for students.

As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we are actively seeking additional financial support to expand our program offerings and increase our impact. While state and city grants provide essential baseline funding, they are not enough. Additional resources are required to enhance program quality, sustain operations, and reach more students in need.
