Donor Insider | June 2024 |
|
Dear Jim,
As you know, our Mile Hi Church fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30.
Therefore, we are coming to the end of this particular fiscal year. It is an important time for us as a spiritual business. It represents the finalization of our business year, the accounting of our finances, and the preparation to begin a new fiscal year.
The budget for this next year will be approved by the board this month. Interviews of potential board members also take place in June when new officers are chosen. The agenda for the annual meeting on August 11 gets established.
It is a lot of business. Yet, did you notice that I called us a "spiritual business"? While all of this satisfies our fiscal responsibility, all of it is also done with great prayerful energy and a consciousness of seeking to be of the highest service possible to our community. It is all part of what we do and cannot be ignored.
Please keep our board, ministers, and staff in your prayers at this time of ending and beginning. Affirm with us we do our business from the highest place in consciousness and continue to progress the momentum of our amazing community. We are grateful for your prayers and presence.
In this issue, I am sharing where we are with our income and expenses, a feature story about long-time member Colleen Stephens, and a lovely prayer of gratitude written by Rev. Jackie Harris. Feel free to read this prayer often.

FINANCIALS | Income and Expenses
|
|
This is the total income from all sources and the total expenses as of April 30, 2024.
All sources include donations from:
- Youth & Family Ministry: Events and designated donations
- Mile Hi Children’s Enrichment Center, our licensed preschool
- Prayer & Care Center: Events and practitioner sessions
- Educational classes, renowned speaker and community events, retreats, and ceremonies
- Works of Heart store
- Mile Hi Church Foundation
- Other: Our parking lot rental
We have taken in more income than we have spent so far. However, we note at this time last year, our total income was $3,339,088, which is higher than this year. We budgeted based on 2023's numbers, so while we are currently in the black, we are $106,371 below what we budgeted for income. As we look at the budget for 2024-2025, we will take all this into account.
Additionally, in the realm of expenses, one of the major expenses that surprised us is utility costs. Lighting, heating, cooling, and water for all our buildings have cost $20,000 more than we had planned. Other expenses generally have been in alignment or lower than budget. These savings are all due to our very responsible staff.
For great details of how this story ends, meaning the whole fiscal year, please plan to be with us at our annual meeting on Sunday, August 11 at 11:30 a.m. in the Vogt Auditorium. Carma Lytle, Chief Financial Officer, is informative in explaining the current state of our finances, and you are free to ask any questions.
It is important to us that you are in the know about how income and expenses are flowing for our church.

A LIFETIME OF SERVICE | Colleen Stephens |
|
Softball player, rally and drag racer, model, skydiver, businesswoman, teacher, education and computer programmer, systems analyst, corporate trainer, Mile Hi Church practitioner, energizer-bunny, and benevolent volunteer at Mile Hi for over 50 years.
These titles barely begin to describe Colleen Stephens, easily one of the most recognizable and energetic members of our church for her longtime manifold contributions and endless positive energy.
“I’ve been called a spitfire,” Colleen says, with a wide grin and laugh.
Colleen first attended Mile Hi Church in 1973 on the recommendation of a mystic and psychic. “My husband Steve and I wanted to find a spiritual home. My father had an American Indian reverence for the earth and would bless the mountains, animals, and all people,” she shared, adding that the Science of Mind and Spirit teaching blesses all paths, all forms of life, and all ways of being. “We were blown away at the first service and stayed ever since!”

PRAYER FOR ABUNDANCE | Rev. Jackie Harris |
|
God is all there is.
It is the Source, the Oneness, the Creative Power over all, and in all. That Creative Power is the same that formed and placed the planets and stars in the Universe. It is the Creative Power that created everything in nature and each human in this place and time. All we see and experience is the abundance of the Universe.
I am unified to Creative Power, and I know each person is joined to that Power. Everything that is the One Mind is also available to each person as they open to it.
I affirm, now, that perfect abundance and prosperity is the birthright of Mile Hi Church, and each congregant who believes this abundance and prosperity is theirs now.
Each person listens and responds to the inner voice encouraging growth and freedom in all aspects of life and as this truth reveals itself, abundance and prosperity flow. That same truth is the truth of Mile Hi Church, now. A truth sending the love of the Universe out to all and spreading into the community and the world and back into the life of Mile Hi.
I accept the truth of this prayer that abundance, prosperity, and love fill all corners of Mile Hi Church and its congregants and community.
Now, I can release this prayer into the alchemy of love and law knowing it is unfolding perfectly because the law always responds yes to our belief. I let this prayer go and rest with confidence in its unfolding.
And so it is. Amen.
