2025 Janet M. Wendorf Outstanding Caregiver

Sandi Currey, Nurse Assistant at McLaren Greater Lansing, was honored as the recipient of this year's Janet M. Wendorf Outstanding Caregiver Award. While on vacation, Sandi helped as a stranger experienced cardiac arrest. She provided the appropriate medical attention, keeping him alert until EMS arrived. The patient's family contacted the hospital to express their gratitude for Sandi's quick-thinking response and outstanding care.

The patient and his wife surprised Sandi at her award presentation, thanking her for saving his life!

The Wendorf Award was created by the McLaren Greater Lansing Foundation in 2017 and is named in memory of Janet Wendorf, a longtime supporter of the hospital who understood the importance of giving back to the community. Individuals chosen to receive the award are recognized for their commitment to providing high-quality and compassionate care to patients.

Donor Spotlight

The Weller Family

Thank you to the Weller Family for the recent support of the Food and Resource Center. Their generous gift included the addition of an upright deep freezer to the space.

This will allow McLaren Greater Lansing the opportunity to expand the food provided to patients to include meat and frozen fruits and vegetables.

We are grateful for the Weller's continued support of our mission!

Ohio Association of Healthcare Philanthropy

On Thursday, October 9, we attended the Ohio Association of Healthcare Philanthropy Fall 2025 Conference as guests of Engaged Generosity. The conference, Maximizing and Nurturing the Value of Philanthropic Partners, was held at Dayton Children's Hospital. Our Vice President of Philanthropy, Lynn Griffor, sat on the panel "Enhancing the Value of Community Partnerships to form Mission Coalitions." It was wonderful to explore the value of meaningful relationships among our respective clinical teams, nonprofit colleagues, and community partners.

Thank you Burcham Hills

Burcham Hills, a Life Plan Community, generously donated coffee, hot cocoa and other treats to the caregivers at McLaren Greater Lansing to say "thank you" for all their hard work. They spread a little GO GREEN spirit before the big game against U of M.

Burcham Hills has been a long-time supporter of the Foundation through our fundraising events. They are also hosting a resident food drive for the McLaren Greater Lansing

Food and Resource Center and winter clothing drive for

the Emergency Department next month.

MSU Tailgate
