Food and Resource Center Ribbon Cutting

Thursday, May 29 we hosted a ribbon cutting for the expanded food pantry space at the hospital. The pantry is located in Karmanos Cancer Institute and currently serves KCI patients.

Thanks to the generosity of Huntington Bank, PNC, the McLaren Greater Lansing Volunteers and other community partners who funded the construction, the new Food and Resource Center will also be able to serve McLaren Greater Lansing Clinics.

The space has been stocked largely thanks to a wonderful partnership with The Greater Lansing Food Bank. Last year the pantry served over 2,100 patients.

Donor Spotlight

TechSmith

Hospital Week 2025 was May 11 - 17 and TechSmith employees hosted a notecard drive writing hundreds of notes of support, gratitude and well-wishes to be shared with McLaren Greater Lansing employees.

"The caregivers in our community are available 24/7 to provide us with support and care when we need it most. The thank you notes from TechSmith employees and their families to the caregivers at McLaren are a small way we can show our appreciation for all they do for our community." - Michelle Massey, Vice President Community and Customer Operations, TechSmith

TechSmith also funds the interactive coloring wall in the Emergency Department waiting area. This has been a passion project of their organization and was included in the ED on opening day of the hospital in 2022.

Employee Spotlight

Thanks to a scholarship from the Foundation, Ashley Reader, BSN, RN, CHFN, recently received her Heart Failure Certification. This certification allows Ashley, the hospital's Heart Failure Nurse, to enhance the level of care provided to our patients and community.

In her role, Ashley works directly with heart failure patients to educate them about their condition, guide them through their treatment plans, and ensure medications and follow-up care are in place. She also teaches an outpatient heart failure class open to the community, helping individuals and their families better understand how to manage their health and improve their quality of life. This certification strengthens her ability to deliver evidence-based education and compassionate, expert care both in the hospital and beyond.
