My work focuses on capturing the personality and narrative of the subject. I use textured brushstrokes to create an atmosphere in settings that make the subject tangible. I use oil paints to create this physical tangible sense of texture and enhance the impressionistic appearance of the setting. I aim to have the landscape feel like a passing glance or a foggy memory that can not be pinned down. Most of my work and style is focused on nostalgia and memory. This work of the marsh here in the local area of Murrells Inlet is home to many residents and a quick stop on a vacation route for visitors. Depending on the perspective of the viewer, the narrative of the landscape changes. An old memory versus a blurry glance, not only changes the meaning of the artwork, but of the actual location in reality.
