"Our Town"
All Member Show
Spotlight Wall - BJ Glanville
July 22 - August 13
Opening Reception: Sunday, July 23rd, 4 to 6 PM
Our spotlight artist,
BJ Glanville, has a
professional background in the textile industry, designing fabrics for multiple applications: home furnishings, apparel & automotive interiors. Growing up in the Virgin Islands,
she was introduced to silk screen printing by one of the early pioneers, Jim Tillett, and the textures, pattern and colors of the Caribbean are still infused in her artwork today.
"Most recently, my creative process has focused on monoprinting (printing on paper and on fabric; often incorporating a layering of both). I am intrigued with working on only one print ("mono") and using a press to transfer the painted image. Taking an image and finding a pleasing way to repeat its pattern across a surface; always paying close attention to detail and the complexity of layering, is rewarding for me." BJ Glanville
Oh, and don't forget that John Felice & company will be playing at the opening reception
for this exhibit Sunday, July 23rd, with an open drumming circle after the reception.
