We now have a new Facebook page with the same name and a connected Instagram account. Please follow this link to our new page and follow us there for updates, news, and upcoming events.

"You must first practice hearing the Dharma, then contemplating it, then meditating upon it. If you don’t learn the Dharma first, then on what will you meditate? It will help you accomplish your own benefit and the benefits of others—in this life and future lives."
-Ven. Gyatrul Rinpoche

"I participated in the Marig Munsel program from 2000–2004 at Tashi Choling, in what I believe was its first session taught by Bruce Newman. The course was invaluable to me—it brought me back from a long period of limited involvement at the Center into what has now been 26 years of steadily deepening participation.
The program offered a strong grounding in the foundational texts of Buddhist study and practice, while continually emphasizing the importance of bringing one’s practice “off the cushion” and into daily life. Just as meaningful were the rich discussions on how to engage the wider world as a Buddhist, and the deep sense of sangha that developed among participants—connections that continue to support me to this day.
I am profoundly grateful to Bruce Newman for creating and offering this program, and I warmly encourage anyone wishing to establish a solid foundation on the Buddhist path to consider joining.
I later had the opportunity to repeat two years of the course at Orgyen Dorje Den, and I will be attending this upcoming session on Zoom from Dorje Ling—please join me! If you live in the Portland area, we might even gather to participate together, which would be wonderful."

Entrance to Dewachen, on the Path to Amitabha’s Pure Realm with Khenpo Karten Rinpoche
Saturday, April 25th
10:00-12:00 & 2:00-4:00
(online)
"The Four Causes for Rebirth in Sukhavati’ is a classic Buddhist teaching that helps us realize our aspiration to fully integrate pure dharma during our lifetimes and to be reborn in Amitabha’s Pure Land following our dying process. Bringing the pure realm to mind, gathering immeasurable roots of virtue, generating bodhicitta, and the dedication of merit through prayer will be our focus. Khenpo Karten Rinpoche is delighted to share this profound teaching and considers the topic 'his specialty'."
