By Caleb Forrester
Simply being in the presence of Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche at this year’s round of empowerments at Orgyen Dorje Den was truly a precious gift. The warmth and compassion of his wisdom mind seemed to permeate the entire experience, even beyond the event itself. In addition to the wangs, Rinpoche was kind enough to offer a last-minute refuge ceremony, and our newest sangha members were given names which he beautifully rendered in Tibetan script for them to frame and cherish. On the last day we all shared a lovely dinner together and got to connect more deeply with our extended sangha family. It’s an increasingly rare opportunity to be given empowerment from a Lama of Rinpoche's caliber these days - imagine, he was the secretary of Dudjom Rinpoche himself! I feel both grateful and humbled to have received the vital blessings of this incredible lineage.

Looking to the future
On behalf of Dorje Ling, Ila Reitz along with Lama Drimed Rinpoche, Dallen Esselstrom and Caleb Forrester requested Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche to teach at all of Ven. Gyatrul Rinpoche's center and specifically at Dorje Ling. We are saying prayers that he will come.

Tsa Tsa Workshop:
Saturday, October 5th 2:00-3:30pm
Sunday, October 26th 1:00-2:30pm
An excerpt from Lama Chonam's teaching on the benefits of making tsa tsa:
"The benefits include that, first, the activity of making tsa tsa fulfills the enlightened minds of the lineage masters; second, it repays the kindness of one’s parents; third, it pacifies the deteriorations of vows; fourth, it pacifies the negative karma of weighty accumulations; fifth, it prevents one from falling under the influence of negative teachers or companions; sixth, it grants the capacity to assist and benefit all living beings; seventh, it brings benefit to those who are in the process of death; eighth, it benefits those who are wandering in the bardo; and ninth, this activity brings happiness to all living beings."

Chakung Jigme Wangdrak Rinpoche attended Larung Gar Monastery and studied Sutra, Tantra and Dzogchen and received empowerments from His Holiness Jigme Phuntsok, who requested that Rinpoche teach and preserve the lineage of Dudjom Lingpa, as did Dakini Kunzang Wangmo, a well-known female teacher and descendent of Dudjom Lingpa.
In 2014, Rinpoche founded The Abhaya Fellowship, which is a Buddhist community dedicated to keeping the Nyingma lineage of the Dudjom Tersar alive. In 2016, Rinpoche opened his Dharma center Longsal Ling in El Cerrito, CA.
