Dear Friends,
In 2017 the Dorothy M. Gillespie Foundation loaned "Glimmers of Hope" - an anodized gold sculpture to Radford Heritage Foundation in Radford VA. The artwork became part of the sculpture garden at the Mary Draper Ingles Cultural Heritage Park.
Last year "Glimmers of Hope" became one of 71 public works of art of Dorothy Gillespie which have been submitted to the Public Art Archive.
In 2023 the sculpture was moved closer to the Glencoe Mansion. The sculpture is located on the grounds of Glencoe Mansion, Museum and Gallery, the site of the "Field of Honor" which honors veterans and first responders. (See photos below)
This Spring, I contacted Scott Gardner, Executive Director of the Radford Heritage Foundation to say that to honor the veterans and first responders I would like to make the loan a permanent donation to the city of Radford. Below is his letter of appreciation.
