Fall 2018
Community of Support

It has been a great summer of growth and process improvement at Dorothy’s House and I’ve shared with many of you that it feels like the wheels are beginning to turn on their own.

We have made strides in staff training, streamlining our intake process, tightening up internal procedures and made improvements to the way we offer programming to our participants. We hope all of this leads to longer and more productive stays for our participants.

As I have reflected back over the hurdles and challenges and the effort to overcome them, I realize again and again that Dorothy’s House continues to work not because of the time and energy I put against it but because the entire community in central Iowa has their arms firmly around us holding us up in support and prayer.

All of us at the house are so grateful for all you have done for us.
Meet Lyndsie - Care Coordinator

Lyndsie Angus joined the team at Dorothy's House more than a year ago as Direct Care staff. She is a graduate of the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology.

Lyndsie's eyes were first opened to the human trafficking industry through her studies. She immediately became interested in pursuing a career related to victim rights and advocacy. She is passionate about working with survivors and walking alongside them during their recovery.

She recently moved into a new position within Dorothy's House as Care Coordinator. She helps build bridges between the community and Dorothy's House in order to provide services, opportunities, and resources to our participants.
Lyndsie Angus has been on our team for more than a year and has recently moved to a new position as Care Coordinator.

Jeremy and Sarah Schwertfeger opened their barn to about 50 of their closest friends and family for a fall barn bash . The cool weather did not deter the festivities. Jeremy filtered the money raised through his company and was able to double the donations with a matching gift!
