Winter 2019
Dorothy's House works because of you!

The holiday season is upon us! We are celebrating so many blessings this season as we continue to see our participants work hard, overcome obstacles, and achieve their goals. However, in addition to the disappointing weather this fall, we have seen a downturn in funding and grant success for several months now- nearly eliminating our reserves. While our plans for the future are bright, we need a boost going into the end of the year.

Maybe you are hosting a holiday party and are willing to take free will donations? Do you belong to a group or other organization (book club, PEO, Red Hat, Rosary Society, Mom's Next et al) willing to raise money or gift cards during the holidays? And, don't forget to add us as one of your designated United Way charities. Anything you can do helps!

Reclaim, Restore, Renew

This winter we will tear down our second home and rebuild it to accommodate our growing demand. This home will add five bedrooms (one ADA compliant), a proper office space for staff and room to exercise, meet and retreat. Our capacity will be 9 participants under our roof and an unlimited number in our Transitional living program. If you or someone you know has access to material donations related to building a new home (think fixtures, building materials, lighting, flooring, etc.) let us know at info@dorothyshouse.org
On the Horizon
While we are under construction, we are also building an intervention curriculum designed to help those who have been exposed to this crime who do not need access to housing. In a years time we will grow from 4 to 9 to dozens of participants simultaneously.
We saw what you did!

Michelle and her friends got together to improve our curb appeal and add beauty to our space. They have completely transformed our garden and made it a place of peace! Thanks Michelle, Anne, and Annette!

Michelle began teaching QiGong (often confused with chai tea at the house) and helps us wrap up our Sunday evenings with peace and balance!

HFMA -- returned in full force this year to close down our Urban Garden. Winter-- we dare you!

We had so much fun celebrating Oktoberfest with the men from Network Club Connect !

Revive Clinic and Spa hosted a spa party introducing their services to the Ankeny community and raised money for Dorothy's House.

Claudia took the time to teach us a painting project which will become the artwork for our holiday greeting card! Look for it in the mail later this year...
