Our 99th Season is officially underway! While our first production won't take the stage until October, there are plenty of ways to get involved before opening night.

This month, we're announcing auditions for Steel Magnolias and POTUS, and inviting you to enjoy a free outdoor Shakespeare performance presented in partnership with the School of Outrageous Shakespeare.

Steel Magnolias

POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumbass Are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive

Fast-paced, wildly funny, and delightfully chaotic, POTUS is a sharp political comedy that showcases the wit, resilience, and resourcefulness of seven extraordinary women.

This is a historic moment for The Dorset Players — our first season featuring two back-to-back all-female casts. We want to fill the stage with the incredible local talent of women from Dorset and surrounding communities!

Sides (scene excerpts) will be available one week prior to auditions and will also be provided at the audition itself. To receive the sides in advance, please contact the business office at 802-867-5570 and leave a voicemail with your email and they will be sent to you. No prepared monologue is required.



Performance Dates

Who Should Audition? Women ages 18 years old and up — experienced actors and first-timers alike — are warmly invited! Whether you’re a seasoned performer or have always wanted to try theater, this is your chance to be part of something special in our community.

Rehearsals will primarily be evenings and weekends. Full schedules will be shared at callbacks.

Come laugh, cry, roar, and shine with us! These two powerful, hilarious, and deeply human plays are going to be unforgettable — and we want YOU on stage.

The School of 
Outrageous Shakespeare

The School of Outrageous Shakespeare, in partnership with the Dorset Players, presents an afternoon of free, outdoor Shakespeare! 

On July 25th, join performers from the School of Outrageous Shakespeare, directed by Gary Meitrott, and from the "Making the Argument" workshop directed by Meg Kemble, for an afternoon of selected scenes and monologues.

Hosted in the idyllic Riverwalk Park in Manchester, Vermont, this show is a celebration of language, the expansiveness of human emotion, and Shakespeare in the natural world. 

Performances begin at 4pm, and this event is free to the public. Audience members are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets for comfortable outdoor seating.
