Dear Friend,

For 95 years, Tyndale St-Georges Community Centre has been serving the residents of Little Burgundy by listening, caring, engaging, and empowering our participants to realize their highest potential. Life-long learning has always been central to our mission, with programs and services offered to community members from birth to retirement and beyond.

We are excited to announce that we are launching a 100K Matching Gift Campaign with the help of 5 generous donors. Thanks to these donors, all donations made until January 31st, 2023 will be matched up to $100,000! This will allow us to continue offering low cost programming and support services to the community. The goal of this campaign is to raise crucial funds for the Centre so we can continue to support our community and its members, like Sajida, Shakeel and Ali who arrived in Canada December of 2021.

“We moved to Canada from Pakistan at the end of December in 2021. The weather was cold, Covid was at its peak and the snow was not something we were familiar with. Our son Ali was homesick and we were feeling totally isolated and did not know what to do, or whom we could ask for any suggestions or advice. This was a very hard time for our family.

One day, we were at the park with Ali just across from Tyndale St-Georges Community Centre. We noticed that kids were going in and out of the Centre so we thought of inquiring about services offered, but we were hesitant. Finally Sajida went in and found out about the Children’s Library where we could take Ali to read and borrow books. In the beginning, he didn't know how to read very well but was attracted to all the colorful books. The Librarian’s approach with Ali helped foster his love of reading. Soon after his first visit, Ali was insistent on going to the Tyndale Library every day so that he could continue to learn to read.

The Librarian suggested we meet with Steven Valin, Tyndale’s Family Support Worker. Faced with a precarious financial situation, Steven was able to help us improve our financial security as well as guide us through the complex immigration application process. He also had Ali enrolled in Tyndale’s After School Program, Summer Camp and many other activities. This helped him learn to socialize, make new friends and integrate into the community. The profound impact that everyone at Tyndale has on my child's well-being is something Sajida and I witness on a daily basis.

Walking through the doors of Tyndale, opened up a new world for us, especially for my son Ali. The staff have always welcomed us as if we have known them for years, just like family. Tyndale St-Georges Community Centre strives to offer solutions to every kind of situation and problem not only for our family but for everyone who visits.”
