PICNIC is a 1920's vintage wooden Herreshoff 12, built by the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company.  She was restored in the late 1980's at Ballentine's Boat Shop and has been well cared for since by owners that know how to care for a wooden boat.
During her restoration, care was taken to preserve the parts that showed her history and rebuild her structure to keeping her strong for her next chapter.

100 Years of Yachting History

In 1914, N. G. Herreshoff designed a small sloop for the Beverly Yacht Club to teach the next generation of sailors the skills of seamanship safely in the often rough conditions of Buzzards Bay. The little gaffer quickly gained respect among even the most experienced sailors and became known as the Herreshoff 12 .

This summer will mark the 100 year anniversary of the Herreshoff 12 and what became a foundation of New England sailing. The milestone will be celebrated during this year's H-Class National Regatta.

August 8th, 9th and 10th

Buzzards Bay Yacht Club

All H-Class boats are invited to compete. More information will be available in the coming months. To encourage competitors from afar, Doughdish will be offering launching, rigging and other logistics at reduced rates for traveling sailors.

Ready for Upgrades?

Many of the original wooden 12s and nearly all of the 538 Doughdishes are still sailing AND WINNING in fleets around New England. While the boats remain strong, some of their hardware and trim are showing their age.

We have parts for both traditional and high tech sailors with hardware from bronze to carbon.

Contact us about replacing or upgrading worn hardware.
