Douglas Back on the Box at Bark River
Manual Transmission Shows Its Potential
After a couple of under performing rounds of racing, Scott Douglas put the Douglas Motorsports PRO-4x4 back on the podium. All weekend long the familiar white and black AMSOIL Rusty's Off-Road Walker Evans Racing KC HiLites supported truck was in contention for the top spot.  With only two weekends of racing left in the TORC Series presented by AMSOIL season, the final result at Bark River will give the team the momentum to challenge for the PRO-4x4 Championship.
The weather at Bark River International Off-Road Raceway was the best of the season. Mild temperatures, sunny skies, and a slight breeze kept race teams performing their best.  Douglas Motorsports made another bold move as the four-speed manual transmission equipped truck was put into race action for the first time this season. After extensive testing immediately following Elk River, Scott and the team believed it was time to put all the testing to work.

Saturday's Round 9 saw the  #7 AMSOIL truck quickly move from its third row starting position into second place in the opening laps. Just before the halfway mandatory yellow, Douglas and another truck made contact creating a very slow leak in the right rear tire. Then with less than two laps until the checkered flag, the tire began to disintegrate, relegating the team to a sixth place finish.

Overnight the team thoroughly inspected the truck and added a few changes in the chassis set-up.
The Sunday afternoon ten lap race saw Douglas regain the quickness the team needed to push for a podium finish. The second PRO-4 race of the weekend saw the #7 AMSOIL push the leaders and ultimately finish on the podium in third place.

"We have our momentum back," remarked Scott Douglas. "We tried some extr eme
null
changes in Elk River looking to get that drive needed to challenge the Greaves
family, but the result was not typical for Douglas Motorsports. Throughout the  year we have been testing the second truck with a 4-speed manual transmission and felt it was time to get it racing. Both days we gained some of the speed we are striving f or and that was very important for me as well as the team. The hard work at the shop and during testing is showing results. We have three weeks to get ready for Charlotte to ensure we land on the top step of the podium."

The next on TORC Series presented by AMSOIL is August 19-20 at The Dirt at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina.

If you can't get to Concord for the next rounds of racing, the event will be live on the Interne
t and streaming free at www.torcseries.com.
