Dover Public Library
April eNewsletter

Dear Library Community,

We want you to know that, although our physical collection is unavailable, we have lots of digital collections available to you-see list below. However, these services are very popular and we are experiencing some overload glitches periodically. Be patient, try restarting your device and if that doesn't work, step away for a few hours and try again. Give us a call if you still aren't able to login. The staff is working from home and are available for questions and suggestions. We can be reached by both phone and email, Monday thru Friday from 9 to 5 at 516-6050, or libraryquestions@dover.nh.gov. Also, the staff is offering some of our usual storytimes, book groups, knitting groups, and anything else we can think of, via Zoom and Facebook live, so please check our calendar of events. We look forward to a time when we can open our doors and welcome you back to into your Library. Until then, please check our website and Facebook page for new and exciting offerings. Stay well.

The Staff of the Dover Public Library

Retirements

During the chaos of COVID-19, Cathy Beaudoin, our Library Director of 21 years (44 total years at the Dover Public Library), quietly retired. We will miss her leadership, mentorship, sense of humor, and friendship. Her tenure at the Dover Public Library marked constant change to keep up with an ever-evolving world. She allowed staff to take risks and try new ideas, the sign of an effective leader. I have been named the new Library Director and I will do my best to fill her shoes and keep the Library moving in a positive direction.

Denise LaFrance

Sue Vincent, our InterLibrary Loan Librarian, retired after 22 years on the job. Her work at Dover Public Library began in the Children's Room--some of you may remember Miss Sue's storytimes--and later transitioned to the ILL position. We will sorely miss Sue's quiet grace and delightful sense of humor! Enjoy your garden Miss Sue.

Poetry Contest

The Dover Public Library Poetry Contest is still on!  We are very flexible as to how you submit--via email, snail mail, scan and send--any way you can think of.  I will be sending poems to the judges digitally so everyone will stay safe.  Prizes will be awarded in six different categories:  Grades K-2, 3 & 4, 5 & 6, 7 & 8, 9 & 10, and 11 &12.  Poems will be judged on originality, style and creativity. For more information visit our website.   Deadline for entry is April 24. Send submissions to d.lafrance@dover.nh.gov.  Good luck!

Peeps Contest

We were sad to have to cancel our Peeps Show Contest, and apparently Peeps artists were too. This year instead of a contest we will have a Peeps Show Exhibition. If you feel inclined to create a book themed Peep diorama, take a picture of it and send it to c.tremblay@dover.nh.gov and we will post it on FaceBook and our blog. Please be sure to tell us what the title of your entry is. Send your photos in during the month of April. Who feels creative?
