STEM Saturday:  Connecting with K'Nex    

Join us as we tackle some design challenges using K'nex on
Saturday, May 4 at 2pmK'nex are a great way to learn about structures, forces, and simple machines all while playing. K'nex connect science, technology, engineering, arts, and math within each rod. Let your imagination run wild while "Connecting with K'nex".
 
Kid in grades K and up invited.  No registration required. All materials provided.
 
Drop-in Crafternoon
 
On Sunday, May 5 from 2:30-3:30 pm kids are invited to make a Perler Bead Refrigerator magnet for a Mother's Day gift.
 
Mary Poppins Storytime
   
The Portsmouth Christian Academy Players will present a special family storytime on Saturday, May 11 at 11:00 am.
Poetry Contest 
 
 
Join us for an Evening of Poetry on Monday, May 20 at 6:30pm . All students who participated in the poetry contest are invited to read their poetry at this event. The general public is encouraged to come and enjoy the readings. Refreshments will be served. For more information please contact Denise LaFrance at 516- 6082.
 
Ask a Middle Schooler   

We are looking for 5th and 6th graders from the Dover Middle School willing to help at an Ask a Middle Schooler Event
 
on Monday, June 3 at 6:30. The event is designed to give 4 th  graders the opportunity to come and talk to 5 th  and 6 th  graders one-on-one about the transition to middle school.   To volunteer or if you have questions contact Denise LaFrance at  d.lafrance@dover.nh.gov  or call 516-5050.
     
 Teen Book Group!  
 
The next meeting of Pizza & Pages will be held on Wednesday, May 15 @ 6pm.  The group will be discussing The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainan.   Copies of the book are currently available for borrowing at the adult circulation desk.  We encourage kids in grades 7 and up to attend.  The group will be very informal with pizza and refreshments being served.   Join us to hang out with friends and maybe meet new ones.  Hope to see you there.  Questions email d.lafrance@dover.nh.gov or call 516-6050 and ask for Denise.

LEGO Saturdays

Join us on May 4, 11, 18 and 25 
for Lego Saturdays. Use our LEGOs to build and create. Meet new friends and share your ideas. Work on interesting challenges and have fun!

Matinees are held in the Library Lecture Hall on Saturdays at 2:00 pm.

Paws for Reading
 
Murphy, a certified therapy dog, and her handler, Karen, will be in the children's room on S aturday, May 18 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am. Murphy is a great listener and very patient with beginning readers.
