The Dover Public Library will be reopening on June 5, 2026!


Starting on Monday, April 20 we will be downsizing our temporary space in the McConnell Center in anticipation of our move. We will be consolidating a portion of the adult and children’s space into room 306. We will be open in McConnell Center Room 306 on Mondays from 9am to 8:30pm and Wednesdays from 9am to 5pm with the following services available:



·        Our browse collection of books for all ages—what we have purchased in the last 6 months.

·        Patrons will be able to pick up books on hold, but will unfortunately only be able to place browse books on hold.

·        We will have 4 computers for public use with printing capabilities.

·        Magazines and newspapers.

·        All of our museum passes will be available for borrowing.

·        Homebound delivery and our offsite All Abilities Club will continue.

·        The Children’s Department will be offering a 4 week session of Preschool & Family Storytimes in May. Preschool on Mondays at 10am (except for Memorial Day) and Family Storytime on Wednesdays at 10am.

·        During April school vacation, Wednesday, April 29 at 10:30am, we will be hosting author & illustrator Marty Kelley for elementary school kids.

·        Our 24th Annual Poetry Contest will be taking place.


We are excited to welcome our community back to our beautiful newly renovated space!

Upcoming Events

24th Annual Poetry Contest


The Dover Public Library is pleased to announce the 24th Annual Dover Public Library Poetry contest for Dover area residents ages 5 and up. Prizes will be awarded in seven different categories: Grades K-2, 3 & 4, 5 & 6, 7 & 8, 9 & 10, 11 &12, and adults ages 18 & older. Poems will be judged on originality, style, and creativity. This year's contest will run from March 18 to April 15. Craftermorning: Sock Bunnies


On Saturday, April 4 at 10:30am in McConnell Center Room 306, kids in grades K - 5 are invited to make a sock bunny. Children in kindergarten and first grade may need help from a caregiver to complete this project. Please pre-register online for this event. Drop-in Open Art Lab


On Wednesday, April 8 at 3:30pm in McConnell Center Room 306, kids of all ages are invited to bring their imagination and creativity to the Drop-In Open Art Lab. We will have a variety of supplies available for you to use to create artwork of your own design.

Earth Day Storytime w/ Don't Trash Dover


Stop by on Tuesday, April 28 at 10am on the Library Lawn for a special storytime with Don’t Trash Dover! We’ll be reading stories, singing songs, and will end with a trash clean up outside the library. This is an all ages event that will take place on the library front lawn. Please contact Crystal Lisbon at c.lisbon@dover.nh.gov with any questions. 

Author & Illustrator Marty Kelley


Join us on Wednesday, April 29 at 10:30am in the City Hall Auditorium for a special presentation by Author and Illustrator Marty Kelley! Marty will be presenting a fun, fast-paced explanation of how he creates his books. This interactive and engaging presentation is appropriate for children in grades Kindergarten and up, and will end with a special drawing demonstration! No registration necessary. This event is presented by The Friends of The Dover Public Library, and will take place at City Hall Auditorium. Please email Crystal Lisbon at c.lisbon@dover.nh.gov with any questions. 

Storytimes & Weekly Programs

Family Storytime


On Wednesday, April 1 at 10am in McConnell Center Room 306, children of all ages with caregivers are invited to attend this program which includes stories, fingerplays, songs, and puppets. No registration is required.

Arts & Crafts Storytime


On Thursday, April 2 at 10am in the McConnell Center Room 306, join us for Arts and Crafts Storytime! This program is for children ages 3-5 who are ready to attend storytime independently, without a caregiver. Each session will focus on a different theme. Register for this Thursday series to explore arts and crafts. Books, songs, rhymes, and an art activity will all be part of the fun. Registration is required.
