Upcoming Programs
Virtual Pie Making Demo
Join the virtual program on making the perfect pie with NH chef Liz Barbour on Wednesday, December 2nd at 6:30pm. She will share her favorite pie dough recipe so students can recreate a perfect, flaky crust every time they bake a pie. Barbour will also share information about her favorite pie baking tools, ingredients, and preparation methods. Following the discussion, Barbour will demonstrate how to prepare two delicious, photo-worthy holiday pies that anyone can cook at home. Be sure to register on the event calendar in order to receive a link!

Virtual Paper Snowflake Class
Register online to attend a virtual class on making a 3D paper snowflake on Saturday, December 5 at 3pm. See the event description for details on the library’s event calendar online.

Fine Forgiveness Week

“A Matter of Fact,” a non-fiction book group, will meet in person on Wednesday, December 9 at 10am in the Lecture Hall to discuss “Sex Robots and Vegan Meat” by Jenny Kleeman.
Pizza and Pages will meet in person on Wednesday, December 16 at 6pm in the library's Lecture Hall. We encourage kids in grades 7 and up to attend. The next book will be “Burn” by Patrick Ness and copies of the book are available for borrowing at the main circulation desk.
Virtual Cookbook Club will be trying recipes from Pie Squared by Cathy Barrow. Throughout the month of December, send in pictures of your dishes created with recipes from the book and a small description of your cooking process and/or your thoughts on the book. We will share your creations on our social media pages throughout the month. Photos can be sent to Emily at e.fortin@dover.nh.gov, or tag us on Instagram @doverpubliclibrary. Copies of the book will be available at the main circulation desk to check out with your library card.
Poetry Group
Join volunteer Shane Morin help our community learn about great poets beyond the European and American classics we all read in high school. Meetings this month will be on Tuesday, December 1st and 15th at 3pm in the library's Lecture Hall and will feature works of Native American poets with journeys to Asia, Africa, South America, and more coming in future weeks. Meetings will be held every other Tuesday afternoon. Registration is recommended so we can email poems to people ahead of the next meeting.
Knitting Group
The Knitting Group is meeting the first and third Wednesday morning in the library’s Lecture Hall from 9:30-11:30. Be sure to check the event calendar for dates and times as they are subject to change during these tumultuous times.
Teen Advisory Board
Teens are invited to join us in the Library Lecture Hall on Monday, December 14 at 6pm for our next TAB meeting. Help us plan upcoming programs and services for teens. Your voice matters! For questions about TAB or if you'd like to participate virtually, please reach out to Emily at e.fortin@dover.nh.gov. All are welcome!
Toys for Tots
Donate to the Dover Toy Bank at the Library. In addition to games and toys donations, there is also a real need for essential items for many Dover families. Hats, jackets, boots, scarves, gloves and other clothing are needed to meet demand, along with personal hygiene items. Demand is typically highest for infants and those aged between 9-12 years old. Get them to the library in December as soon as possible.
Do you need help picking out some good books? Did you know the library can help by using our Handpicked Book service? We ask a few simple questions and then put together some books we think you’d like based on your answers. Then you can come in to pick up, save the suggestions for later, or pick up via curbside pickup.
