Tax Help Starts in February 
AARP volunteers will again be offering FREE tax preparation assistance at the library starting in February. They will here Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings 9-12. Appointments can be made by calling 2-1-1. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Creativebug is a new offering for our patrons. Use your card to login to this site for more than 1,000 award-winning art & craft video classes taught by recognized design experts and artists. Winter is a perfect time to get creative! Go to and ENJOY!
New Discussion Group 
Interested in reading classic works of literature and improving your listening, reading, and communication skills at the same time? If so, then consider participating in the Great Books Discussion Group held the first Sunday of every month. We will discuss Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, a work popularly associated with Halloween, but which is perhaps more relevant to the cold and dark associated with our winter months, on Sunday, February 3 at 2pm

On Tuesday, February 12 at 6:30 pm local author Erica Sousa will be here to read from her book of poetry "Thoughts, Feelings and Goofiness" Erica uses writing as therapy. Come and hear about her life and her work.
Creativity Corner

Join us for an informal gathering to discuss making, crafting and creativity in general on Wednesday, February 13 at 6:30pm. What are you making? Come share your creations with others. Talk about why you create. Talk about your process. Share ideas. Get help with challenges you are facing. Be inspired and inspiring.
Free Financial Workshop
On Saturday, February 16 at 11am Colin Walker of Ameriprise Financial Services in Portsmouth will present a free workshop on financial aspects of Retirement and Estate planning. Registration is required. Register through the library's event calendar or call the library at 516-6050 to register.

Cultural Event
On Tuesday, February 19 at 7pm find your inner laughter again with Sandra Maisey. Attendees will partake in exercises that encourage playfulness and balance of mind, body and spirit. This may include gentle stretching and deep breathing, along with laughter exercises that combine laughing and physical movement.  She will talk about the physical and psychological benefits of laughter then she will get the audience laughing to prove it. Give yourself permission to surrender your seriousness. This program is an invitation to breathe, laugh and play for your well-being. You don't have to tell jokes or be funny or flexible to join us!
Local Author    
Join us on Tuesday, February 26 at 6:30pm to hear from New England author Michelle Cacho-Negrete. Her collection of essays called "Stealing: Life in America" was very favorably reviewed by Kirkus Reviews, which called it "a pointed, energetic collection of personal essays". Michelle will have copies of the book available for purchase and will be signing copies after her talk.
Pet Dental Health
Welcome Dr. Timothy Hunt, DVM of downtown Dover's Winichahanat Veterinary Care here in downtown Dover on Wednesday, February 27 at 7pm. Dr. Hunt will be discussing the best ways to keep your pet's teeth and gums healthy. The photo shows Dr. Hunt taking dental radiographs on a sedated canine.
Monthly Offerings

Adult Knitting Group
On Monday, February 11 from 6 - 8pm and Thursday, February 21 from 10 - 12 our knitting group will meet in the Trustees Room. This group is open to anyone who has a love for knitting and crocheting.  All levels are welcome!
Monthly Game Night 
Monthly Game Night is on Wednesday, February 20 from 6-8pm . Join friends and neighbors for some friendly competition with one of our many games, or bring one you'd like to teach to others.

Join a Book Group
Join a book group! The Morning Book Group will discuss the book "Being Mortal" by Atule Gawande on Thursday, February 7 at 10am. The Evening Book Group will meet on Monday, February 28 at 6:30pm to discuss "Room" by Emma Donoghue, and "Get Lit" meets at Sonny's Tavern in Dover on Wednesday, February 27 at 6:30pm. They will be discussing "Convenience Store Woman" by Sayaka Murata . New members to one or all are always welcome!
Pizza & Pages
Teen Book Group

The next meeting will be Wednesday, February 13 at 6pm .  We encourage kids in grades 7 and up to attend.  The group will be very informal with pizza and refreshments being served.   Join us to hang out with friends and maybe meet new ones.  The next book will be "Gone" by Michael Grant, and copies of the book are currently available for borrowing at the adult circulation desk.  Hope to see you there!
