Registration is required by going to the library’s event calendar on our website. Ms. Allen’s presentation will focus on her experience transitioning as well as providing education on key terms and resources for those in the LGBTQ+ community or supporting a loved one. The presentation is geared towards all ages and attendees are encouraged to ask questions.

Citizen Science with Malin Clyde
Find out how you and your family can become scientists in your own neighborhood! Science is not just done in labs, and not just done by scientists. Citizen science happens when members of the public contribute to scientific research. You and your family can make a difference in scientific discovery, all while learning and having fun. Find out more during this virtual program on Wednesday, June 9 at 4pm. Also during the program, details about Citizen Science kits coming to the library collection will be revealed.

French Canadian Family History
On Monday, June 14 at 6:30pm local resident Denis Grenier will discuss the process he went through to create a 10 generation chart of his family in a virtual presentation. Using his extensive knowledge of personal genealogy and Canadian history, he will offer tips and advice for anyone looking to trace their French Canadian family history.

Friends of the Library Book Sale
The Friends of the Dover Public Library are having an outdoor book sale on Friday, June 18th from 9am to 4:30pm, and Saturday from 9 to 12—rain date weekend June 25th & 26th. They will have hundreds of books and DVDs for sale on the front lawn of the Library--fiction, non-fiction, biographies, DVDS, kids’ books, cookbooks and more.  Prices range from $1 to $3, and all proceeds go to the Friends of the Dover Public Library to support programs and museum passes.

Please give the library a call if you’d like to volunteer for the sale.
Masterpiece Discovered
Everyone dreams of finding a treasure in the attic. Join us virtually on Tuesday, June 22 at 6:30pm to hear from Mallory Mortillaro as she talks about just that. In her work as a curator, tasked with cataloging a collection of art pieces, she identified a Rodin sculpture that had been lost to the art world since the 1930s.

STEM Event: Build a Hydraulic Elevator
Kids in grades 3-8 are invited to design, build, and test a hydraulic elevator on Wednesday, June 23 from 1-3pm on the library lawn! Kids will have plenty of time to build, tinker with and perfect their elevators before the competition. We will award prizes to the elevator that has the best overall design and the elevator that lifts the most weight. We will provide all the supplies and the kids bring their imaginations and enthusiasm!
Plant Foraging with Amanda Stanley
Teens and adults are invited to join us on a guided tour along the Dover Community Trail on Tuesday, June 29 from 2-3pm with local herbalist Amanda Stanley, owner of Jupiter’s Labyrinth in Dover. Amanda will give an overview about foraging native plants and teach participants how to identify wild plants that are either edible or safe to use for various wellness purposes. Amanda will also discuss the properties of these plants and helpful ways to use them in daily life. We will be meeting at the Dover Transportation Center's entrance to the Community Trail (33 Chestnut Street, Dover, NH).
High Flying Dogs
Mike Piazza and his border collies will kick off our summer reading program "Tails and Tales" on Wednesday, June 30 at 2pm. This high-energy program with plenty of audience participation is great for all ages. The event will be at Henry Law Park.
Summer Reading is Coming!
The Library has a fun Summer Reading Program planned for this year. This year’s theme is “Tails and Tales” and is available for all ages. Adults and teens will sign up online, using the program ReadSquared. Many events are planned, including a community read of the the beloved children’s classic by E. B. White “Charlotte’s Web.” We will have copies available to borrow or keep and events related to the book and author. Find a friend this summer at the library! Watch the website for more details.

We are seeking donations for summer reading prizes if you own a local business and want to contribute, or purchase one from a local organization and donate it to us to use as giveaways during the program. We are trying not to burden those businesses struggling due to the pandemic.

Now Accepting Passport Applications
We have resumed our Passport Acceptance Program. Give us a call to schedule an appointment and keep in mind the long processing times for routine processing, which is currently running 10-12 weeks.
Do you need help picking out some good books? Did you know the library can help by using our Handpicked Book service? We ask a few simple questions and then put together some books we think you’d like based on your answers. Then you can come in to pick up, save the suggestions for later, or pick up via curbside pickup.
