Upcoming Events
Basket Making Class
Spend an afternoon making a reed basket with NH League of Craftsman basket maker Peggy Thrasher on Saturday, November 13 from 1-4:30pm in the library’s Lecture Hall. All materials needed will be provided by the library. Please bring a mask if you feel more comfortable wearing one. Registration is required. Please be respectful of others and let the library know if you can’t make the class as soon as possible so that we may allow folks from the waiting list to attend. This program is for adults only due to difficulty.

The Great DPL Holiday Cupcake Decorating Challenge
Register to watch a virtual cake decorating program with the owners of A Southern Girl Bakery on Monday, November 15 at 6:30pm. Get inspired to join our mystery baking/decorating challenge. Pick up your bag of ingredients and the instructions in the Children's Room beginning on Tuesday, November 16 (while supplies last). A photo and description of your entry must be submitted by Sunday, November 21 at midnight. A prize for the best creation in each category - Adult, Teen, and Family - will be awarded. Ready, Set, Bake!

Lotus Lantern Craft
Join us either virtually, or in-person for a crafting session on Wednesday, November 17 at 6:30pm to make a Lotus Lantern. Registration is limited. Supplies will be provided. Space is limited to 30 people so please make sure you will be able to attend before registering. A lantern is on display at the Circulation Desk if you want to see one in person. They are very pretty and unique!

Adult Dance Class
Register for a free intro dance class for adults in Dover Public Library's Lecture Hall on Thursday, November 18th, 7-8pm! During this class you will learn beginner ballet for the first portion of the class, and lyrical dance for the second half. This class is complimentary from Musical Arts of Dover taught by dance program director and coordinator Savannah Lee. Bring your water bottle and wear something you're comfortable moving in. Socks are ok too! We welcome you and invite you to join the fun and try something new!

Book Groups
New members to one or all groups are always welcome!
Cover 2 Cover (morning book group) will discuss the book “Magpie Murders” by Anthony Horowitz in person on Thursday, Nov. 4 at 10am. 
The Afternoon/Evening Book Group will be discussing “Persepolis” by Marjane Satrapi in-person at 3pm and 6:30pm on Monday, Nov. 15.
Get Lit will meet in person on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 6:30pm to discuss “The Bean Trees” by Barbara Kingsolver. 
Virtual Cookbook Club will be trying recipes from "Everyone Can Bake" by Dominique Ansel. Throughout the month, send in pictures of your dishes created with recipes from the book and a small description of your cooking process and/or your thoughts on the book. We will share your creations on our social media pages throughout the month. Photos can be sent to Emily at, or tag us on Instagram @doverpubliclibrary. The book is available at the main circulation desk.
A Matter of Fact, a non-fiction book group, will meet in-person on Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 10am in the Lecture Hall to discuss “The Republic of Pirates” by Colin Woodard.
Pizza and Pages is on hiatus for November- see you in December!
Knitting Group
The Knitting Group is meeting the first and third Wednesday morning on the library’s front lawn from 9:30-11:30 (rain location is in the Lecture Hall). Be sure to check the event calendar for dates.
Creativity Corner
Creativity Corner will resume meeting on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 6:30pm. This is a gathering for creative people who are interested in sharing their creative pursuits with others; sharing tips and showing off! The group is facilitated by former Tech Librarian, Peggy Thrasher who is a juried member of the New Hampshire League of Craftsmen. 
Teen Programs
Teen Advisory Board
The library’s Teen Advisory Board will meet on Wednesday, November 10 at 6pm in the Lecture Hall for any teens interested in offering input on teen programming in the library. Any teen is welcome to attend! For questions or more information, please reach out to Emily at
Teen D&D
Drop in and play Dungeons & Dragons LIVE online through Roll20 with Dungeon Master Aidan! There is no commitment to attend all sessions. No experience or materials are required and all skill levels are welcome to play. If you are new to Dungeons and Dragons or using Roll20, please come 15 minutes early to learn the basics, set up a character, and get familiar with the website.

Current Artist Display
Lili Un’s art will be on display during November and December. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of the Arts where she majored in Painting and Printmaking. She went on to receive her Master’s degree in Art Therapy from Southwestern College in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Now Accepting Passport Applications
We have resumed our Passport Acceptance Program. Give us a call to schedule an appointment and keep in mind the long processing times for routine processing, which is currently running 8 -11 weeks.
Do you need help picking out some good books? Did you know the library can help by using our Handpicked Book service? We ask a few simple questions and then put together some books we think you’d like based on your answers. Then you can come in to pick up, save the suggestions for later, or pick up via curbside pickup.

Dover 400th Lecture Series
The Dover 400th Committee has scheduled a year-long lecture series based on Dover’s history. This month’s program is “We Can Do It: Garrison City Goes to War” on Tuesday, November 9 at 7pm.
