From the Principal's Office
Dowell Families -

This week 8th graders met with our counselors to discuss their 4-year high school plans. Parents were also invited to a meeting to get more information. If you have any questions about this, please contact our counselors Jennifer Morse (Last names A-L) or Rayshana Adams (Last names M-Z) and they will make sure you have the answers you need or lead you to the right person. Our current 6th and 7th graders will begin selecting their classes towards the end of February.  Enjoy your three day weekend!

Sincerely,
Holly Rogers

Important...High School Cheer/Mascot Tryouts
The "Purple Out" campaign is in full swing. This community project supports local McKinney residents who are currently battling any kind of cancer and has been embraced by McKinney Boyd High School as well as all of McKinney ISD. Coaches and players of the McKinney Boyd Football Team presented two gifts Tuesday afternoon at Dowell Middle School. The first gift went to Ellie Slate, a 7th grader at Dowell and the second went to Deborah Baker, Dowell's bookkeeper.

The gifts were made possible through funds raised in Boyd's "Purple Out" Cancer Campaign. They hope to grow their funds each year to support as many cancer fighters as possible in our community. All proceeds directly benefit those fighting cancer.

Want to be sharper at work? Feel less tired at home? If you answered "yes", (and who wouldn't?), then exercise is the key. Being physically active offers many benefits including improving mental function, reducing stress, slowing/preventing heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, and osteoporosis (bone loss). You should strive for 60 minutes of exercise or vigorous activity a day but if you can't do it all at once, break it down into 20 minute bouts of activity three times a day. So get up off that couch and give a try. You may be surprised by how great you feel!

Hurry, Before It's Too late!

The last day to order your 2017 DOWELL MS yearbook is Friday, 1/27 at 9AM. We are calling our publisher at 9AM on Friday 1-27 with how many books we are going to order. We WILL NOT be ordering any extra copies for May delivery!
