From the Principal's Office
Dowell Families -

I am pleased to announce that Dowell was recognized as  an Honor Roll school for the 2016 Texas Honor Roll presented by Educational Results Partnership (ERP) and the Institute for Productivity in Education (IPE). We are so proud of the work that our students and teachers do everyday. Thank you for your continuous support.

For 8th grade parents:
- This week (Apr. 26th), your child's HAC account will show STAAR scores. Students were given this information by their teachers last week. They received a paper outlining how to access those results.  Paper copies of STAAR scores will not be provided until June when all testing is complete.
- 8th grade celebration is on May 22nd at the Stonebridge Beach Club this year. The 8th grade walk will be on May 30, 2017 at McKinney Boyd High School at 6:30pm.

For 6th and 7th grade parents:
Emails went home today to parents of students who are invited to our Honor Roll celebration next Monday, May 1st. We will honor our 6th graders at 6:00pm and our 7th graders at 7:00pm.

Hope everyone has a great week!

From the Nurse's Office

All current 6th grade students are required by law to have the following immunizations prior to the start of their 7th grade year.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis-containing vaccine (unless a booster dose received within the past five years)
  • Meningococcal vaccine (one dose)
  • Varicella vaccine (two doses received on or after 1st birthday)
The vaccines listed above are required in addition to those required by earlier laws. A signed statement of Varicella disease will count towards the Varicella requirement.

The Care Van offers FREE vaccines to children (Infants to 18 years of age) who are uninsured, have Medicaid, are American Indian or Alaskan Native or who have private insurance that does not cover vaccines. Passport Health will be available to vaccinate children ages 6 months to 18 years with AETNA, Blue Cross Blue Shield or United Healthcare insurances.

The next Care Van event is scheduled for:

WHEN: May 18, 2017 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

WHERE: Lawson Early Childhood Center, 500 Dowell St., McKinney, Texas

It is necessary for your child to be in compliance before the start of the 201 7 -201 8 school year. Please send updated shot records to Nurse Martha as soon as possible. Without a record of these vaccinations your student will not be able to start 7th grade.
