Winter took it’s time to get here, but it is definitely here! In Maine, we have snow finally, and I think that everyone in New England is being subjected to extreme cold this weekend. (The good news is that it is only for a few days). February is short, then it is March and Evenstride has the first show on March 19th! Our show calendar is filling up, please be sure to take a look when you start to plan your season. If you are thinking of running a show with our classes please go to the hosting tab and fill out the application, it is quick and easy.
So many of our sponsors are back again this year. I am very excited to announce that once again Dover Saddlery will be our presenting sponsor. MIPR is once again sponsoring the 18” derby as well as the livestream, so all the folks at home will be able to watch your rounds. Diamond Hill will be the second round sponsor of the 18” derby. Meader Supply is sponsoring the electronic leaderboard. Hemphill’s will be back as our tack shop. Copious Solutions and Mill Pond will be sponsoring our 2’6” derby, and American National will be back for the 2’3” derby, with The Foster Agency as the second round sponsor of the 2’3” derby. If you or anyone you know are interested in supporting DMF, please contact Ginger. Everything helps. Without sponsorship, we would not be the horse show that we are. Your support has enabled us to build a schooling area, offer hunter derbies and the horsemanship challenge with cash awards, offer wonderful awards and ribbons, enjoy beautiful jumps and decorations, an ice cream social as well as exhibitors' party. Please be in touch so that we can put together a package suited to your needs.
If you have any thoughts about DMF 2023 please feel free to reach out, we are always interested in feedback and ideas.
Thank you to our sponsors for their generosity. We are looking forward to the 2023 show season and celebrating 15 years of the Downeast Medal Finals!

Red blood cells, white blood cells, serum, platelets… Veterinarians look for a lot of things when they run a blood test on your horse.
Called a combined complete blood count/chemistry profile, or CBC for short, this test’s results show what’s happening in the horse’s bloodstream at the moment the sample is drawn. While they can’t produce a perfect report stating that your horse has disease X and needs treatment Y, the various numbers, shapes, and sizes of the blood components can tell the clinician the horse is possibly anemic, losing blood, or fighting an infection or an immune-mediated disease.
Because all these figures and indicators are confusing, we’ve taken a visual route of describing a typical blood test and what its results might mean for your horse.

Thank you to Meader Supply for sponsoring Downeast Medal Finals!
Meader Supply was created in the 80’s because our community had a need for quality driving supplies and we believed we could help fill this need. We may have begun as a draft supply store, but as our community has evolved we have continued to listen to requests, trying to fill in the gaps for what people couldn’t find. We still have a large inventory of draft and driving supplies, but we are also proud to be expanding our riding inventory as well. We have welcomed Professional’s Choice, Shires, Mountain Horse, Kerrits, Irideon, Buccas, Toklat, Tipperary, Phoenix Protective Products, Wintec, Bates, Arena Saddles, and so many more in the recent months. Here at Meader Supply we are a family, and we are all proud to be an ever-evolving retail location, constantly striving to please and give back to our community.
Meader Supply's store is now open! Find out more information on Facebook.
