Message from the President

Welcome to August! Congratulations to all of our qualifiers and those who are continuing to gather points. We are live on www.horseshowing.com! Rumor has it we already have our first entries!

We would like to welcome Dr. Jeff Vigue and North Star Veterinary Services as the official vet of DMF 2021. You can read about his practice below.

If your name is in red on the points page please contact Kate or Katie and give them your contact information so that they can be sure to award you your qualifying medal.

The class list is up online along with all necessary forms that need to be completely filled in before your entries will be accepted. Please be sure to read page 11 thoroughly before sending in your entries. One big change is that ALL classes must be entered on the entry blank including all warmups. There will be NO ADDS at the show. We will accept scratches but they must be completed by 4:30 PM the previous day. All paperwork needs to be complete for your entries to be accepted, phone numbers, addresses, signatures, Covid Releases, and stall form. Thank you for your help in accomplishing this. Also, please remember to call McCarthy Enterprises early to reserve your shavings and stall mats so that everything will be at your stalls when you arrive.

Another big change for this year is that you can ship in on Wednesday! That information can be found on page 11 of the class list as well.

If you have not reserved a room please do so soon as rooms are a bit hard to come by this year. There are Airbnbs in the area, and of course we have plenty of camper spaces, just fill out the form and send it in to reserve your spot.

We have 6 awesome scholarships this year. Applications should be sent August 1 and the closing date is August 12th. Please be sure to send in all of the information for the application to be accepted.

September is getting closer, and we are very excited to see everyone. A huge thank you to all of our wonderful sponsors, please be sure to support them if you can!

North Star Veterinary Services

Downeast Medal Finals would like to welcome North Star Veterinary Services as the 2021 DMF Horse Show Vet!

Dr. Jeff Vigue is the owner and sole practitioner at North Star Veterinary Services. He hails from Whitefield, ME where he grew up on his family’s beef cattle farm. After graduating from Cony High School, Dr. Vigue attended the University of Maine where he received his bachelor’s degree. Upon graduation, he accepted admittance and attended Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (Go Hokies!) where he specialized in large animal and production medicine. After receiving his DVM, Dr. Vigue returned to his hometown where he started his own large animal practice. Outside of work, he is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys spending time hiking with his two Great Danes and partner Nick, or can be found riding or driving his own horses.
