Downtown Akron Restaurant Week extends to eight day event and adds 10 new participating venues

August 19, 2013 (Akron, Ohio) - In its third year, Downtown Akron Restaurant Week is extended to include a second weekRestaurant Week runs Mondays through Thursdays, Sept 9-12 and 16-19. This year's event includes 10 new participants with a total of 21 restaurants and bars offering food and drink specials.

 

restaurant week logo Downtown Akron Restaurant Week has been developed by the Downtown Akron Partnership (DAP) Emerging Leaders to encourage residents of the Akron area to explore the burgeoning dining scene in Downtown Akron. The event provides reasonably priced prix-fixe dinner menus at a variety of restaurants, making it easy and enjoyable to try something new. This year includes the addition of specialty drinks at participating bars with a selection of restaurants offering lunch menus.

 

"Downtown Akron is the gathering place for the Greater Akron area. It's a place in which the diversity of the community is celebrated," said Kimberly Beckett, DAP director of business relations.  "Locally owned Downtown restaurants are important members of this diverse community and essential to the local economy."

Kick off each Monday of Restaurant Week with special lunch and happy hour events, co-hosted by Young Professionals of Akron. Live entertainment, free appetizers, drink specials and networking with other Restaurant Week patrons are featured.  

 

3 Point hosts week two's kick off event on Sept. 16 

On Monday, Sept. 9 spend lunchtime at Baxter's from 12-1 p.m. and enjoy happy hour at Bricco from 5-7 p.m. Kick off week two at 3 Point on Monday, Sept. 16 from 5-7 p.m. RSVP's are requested for the kick off events to 330-376-7676 or [email protected].

 

Not sure who to dine with for Restaurant Week? Have dinner with a YP leader. Look for leaders of Akron area young professional groups at the kick off events. Sign their card and join them for dinner at a Restaurant Week participant on a designated night.

 

Support three or more Restaurant Week participants during the event for a chance to win gift certificates and other prizes. Get your punch card and complete details at participating Restaurant Week locations.

The Downtown Akron Partnership (DAP) Emerging Leaders was established in 2010 to assist in the efforts of retaining young professionals and enhancing DAP's mission of building and promoting a vibrant, valuable Downtown. The Emerging Leaders includes members 35 years of age and younger from a variety of businesses and organizations. The Emerging Leaders aim to increase the number of people investing socially and economically in Downtown, making Downtown a more appealing place to live, work and play all year round.
