August is here, and we sure are happy about it. So happy, in fact, that we've dedicated this entire month to celebrating the things that make us smile. If the past few years have taught us anything, we've learned that the world can be an uncertain and downright scary place. A reminder that August is also the time to ride any RTD bus for free thanks to the Zero Fare For Better Air program. Reduce carbon emissions by hopping on public transportation whenever possible!

August is Happiness Happens Month - the best time of year! What could be happier than days spent strolling Pearl Street, dining with mountain views and spending time with friends and family? And the best part about happiness is that it's contagious, which is why we want to hear what brings you joy downtown!
Participate in our social media giveaway to win a $50 Downtown Boulder Gift Card. Between now and August 15, share a photo with us via email or on social media (@downtownboulder) with the happy place mural (located on the southwest corner of 14th and Pearl). Drop the name of your downtown happy place in the caption to be entered to win!
All month long, keep an eye out for our happiness challenge. This week, tag us in a photo or story on social media (or email us) sharing your favorite place downtown to enjoy coffee or a beverage. Each week the challenge changes! Participation will enter you into a drawing for a $100 Downtown Boulder Gift Card at the end of the month.

Bands on the Bricks 2022

Come to the final Bands on the Bricks performance of the 2022 season TONIGHT (August 3)! Enjoy free live music while sipping beer, wine or margaritas from our Beer Garden (1300 block of the Pearl Street Mall). Festivities begin at 5:30 pm.
This evening kicks off with opener Emelise starting at 6 pm, followed by The Goonies at 7 pm. Based in Boulder, this four-piece rock group is the ultimate 80's cover band and sure to wrap up this year's concert series with a bang!
In addition to the live music, celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Pearl Street Mall. There will be trivia questions scattered throughout announcements during the evening, with the opportunity to win one of four $45 Downtown Boulder Gift Cards for correct guesses. Additionally, the first 45 people to stop by the Downtown Boulder Partnership tent can claim a Welcome to Your Happy Place-branded water bottle. While at the tent, attendees are invited to share their thoughts and ideas about possible futures of downtown Boulder through a variety of interactive activities and short surveys that will help formulate the Downtown Boulder Five Year Vision Plan.

Pearl Street Mile & Boulder Taco Fest

Ready? Set? Run! Registration closes this Friday, August 5 for the 25th anniversary of the Pearl Street Mile! The races begin starting at 5 pm on August 6 and are welcome to all ages and abilities. What better way to spend your Saturday night than racing around Boulder's iconic landmarks and partying afterwards on the Pearl Street Mall with live music and our Avery Brewing Company Beer Garden? There is no race day registration, so be sure to sign up now!
Don't forget that August 6 is also the Boulder Taco Fest! Fuel up before the race at the Civic Area with delicious tacos from Boulder County vendors. Tickets are going fast - so grab 'em before they're gone!

Arts in the Park - Colorado Brazil Festival

What better way to enjoy a Colorado summer than spending evenings outside? Stretch out on a picnic blanket and watch live entertainment in the Civic Area all summer long at Arts in the Park. This initiative supports local performing arts organizations like the Boulder Ballet, Boulder Opera, Boulder Symphony and Boulder Philharmonic.
From August 11 - 13, enjoy the Colorado Brazil Festival. Colorado Brazil Fest (CBF) is the largest festival of its kind in Colorado, and also one of the largest in the nation, with 1,500 - 2,000 participants each year. Colorado Brazil Fest is hosted by Boulder Samba School, the only organization in the state dedicated to promoting the rich heritage of Brazilian music, dance, and culture with a track record of engaging thousands of local residents in performances and educational music programs since its inception in 2009.

Downtown Boulder Vision Plan Survey | | |

This summer, Downtown Boulder Partnership (in conjunction with the City of Boulder) embarked on a five year vision planning process leading up to the 50th anniversary of the Pearl Street Mall in 2027. Considered Boulder's 'living room' since its inception, the mall and surrounding district is a gathering spot for locals and visitors from around the world. As we move together towards this milestone, the Boulder community has a unique opportunity for thoughtful conversations about the future of downtown’s identity, programming and projects.
We want to hear from you. What do you love about your downtown? What could be better?
