Message from the Downtown Development Manager

September 1 marked the meteorological start of the fall season. The cooler temperatures have made the outdoor dining areas especially inviting! While the official start to fall is still a few days away, we are beginning to get into the rhythm of the fall event season in downtown. One of the City's best-known events in the Hampton Roads region occurs on Saturday, September 13 in Downtown Suffolk. There are many food and merchandise vendors, stage performances and family activities! Check out the Taste of Suffolk article below and plan to be a part of the fun!

Thank you for all that you do to add to the vibrancy of Downtown each day and for taking the time to keep up with Downtown happenings through the Downtown Buzz. See you soon in Downtown!

Taste of Suffolk returns to Downtown for its 19th year!

This year's Taste of Suffolk returns on Saturday, September 13 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in historic downtown Suffolk. An after-party keeps the festival vibe going from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Courtyard Park. This year's event boasts over 20 food vendors and many more merchandise vendors, musical entertainment and family activities!

The event stretches throughout Main Street from Finney Avenue to Washington Street and from West Washington Street to Saratoga Avenue. In addition to street food vendors, local independent restaurants will showcase their signature dishes in smaller portions and affordable prices. This is the best time of year to check out why downtown Suffolk is earning the reputation as a foodie destination in Coastal Virginia!

Road Closures begin at 5 a.m. on September 13. All roads are expected to be reopened by

7 p.m. that evening. Please visit HERE for specifics on Road Closures and Parking.

School has started, but the fun doesn't need to end!

Enjoy the fall season at home on the weekends.
