While the Stay Home Order continues, we are regularly reminding Downtown Santa Cruz fans that while responsibly staying at home, we can still support our downtown restaurants by getting takeout! Please send us your restaurant specials and promotions to feature!

40th Annual Santa Cruz Clam Chowder Cook-Off Reimagined: Restaurant Week Feb 15 - 21
Enter your restaurant by Jan 18 to be included in the Restaurant Week promotional video! Deadline to register is Jan 31. All entrants will be promoted on Parks & Recreation social media channels, website, print ads and the event poster plus two 40th Annual Cook-off t-shirts. The cost to register is $100, and the event is an important fundraiser for the City of Santa Cruz Parks & Recreation programs.

The week of Feb 15-21 entrants will feature on their menus Boston Clam Chowder, a rich white cream soup with a predominant clam flavor, for the public to try. (The only meats allowed are clams and bacon.) "Celebrity" judged and people's choice winners will be announced Feb 22. If four or more downtown restaurants enter, there will be a "Best Downtown Clam Chowder" 1st Place Award. Sign up here.
Stay Home Order: Weekly Update
The Bay Area Region's ICU availability dropped to 0.7% yesterday. Because intensive care unit (ICU) capacity is below 15%California's Regional Stay Home Order remains in effect and is expected to continue for several more weeks, at least.

We will continue to monitor our region's ICU capacity and update you weekly. The Stay Home Order will last until our ICU availability rises above 15%. You can also see the data here: https://covid19.ca.gov/ (hover your mouse over the map of California to see the ICU figures.

Business Improvement Fees due. Parking Deficiency Fees Waived.
The Downtown Association of Santa Cruz's operations are supported by the Business Improvement Fees that your business pays to the City of Santa Cruz. These bi-annual fees are now due and payment arrangements are available. The City also bills downtown businesses for Parking Deficiency Fees, which were fortunately waived this January to support the community during the pandemic.
