Holiday Decor

This year the DMB is adding some light decor pieces to the downtown during the Christmas holiday season! Each downtown block will receive a large illuminated display piece. A great photo opportunity for selfies and families! To help offset costs and purchase more, we are implementing a tiered sponsorship program for members to donate money towards these decor pieces. Sponsoring businesses will be recognized for their donation alongside the light decor piece they have sponsored as well as on our social media platforms. Your business will also be listed on the Tripvia Christmas Tour app. 🌟 You will begin to see these on the downtown sidewalks mid-November.

Sponsorship Tiers

Start working on your holiday lights and window displays! Since we cannot move forward with the Children's Candlelight Parade due to COVID-19 restrictions, Downtown Orillia and the Orillia District Chamber of Commerce are working together on Light Up Orillia 2021. Businesses are encouraged to amp up their holiday displays and register to be on the light tour. Your business will be included on the Tripvia tours app self guided tours. In addition to your business being listed you will be able to provide a brief description about your business and advertise specials. This will bring people downtown! Plus the best displays will win prize money!

Remembrance Day

You will notice that the Remembrance Day banners are up in the downtown. The DMB office, City, and the Library all have maps of where certain banners are displayed. If you get inquiries about a specific banner, please refer them to one of these three places with the banner maps.

Downtown Dollars - Debit/Credit Terminal - Online

Downtown Dollar Voucher photo.jpg

The Downtown Management Board office now has a debit/credit terminal in the office. Previously, we have only been able to accept cash or a cheque in exchange for purchasing Downtown Dollars. Now customers will be able to use debit/credit/Apple Pay, etc. We will also begin selling Downtown Dollars online in the next few weeks!

Winter Maintenance

dt orillia 1.jpg

As much as we don't want to admit it, the snow is coming. It is everyone's responsibility in the Downtown to help keep our sidewalks safe and welcoming for our visitors in the winter time. You will notice in the weeks following that the benches will be removed from the sidewalk to get ready for snow removal. As per the City By-Law, every merchant is responsible for the removal of snow and ice "in front, alongside and at the rear of their businesses by 10:00am." The DMB in partnership with the City of Orillia purchased a replacement sidewalk plow two years ago. The Holder machine will always promise to augment the snow clearing efforts made by individual merchants and can often complete one clear path along the sidewalks before the 10:00am deadline, however it cannot absolve the merchant of their responsibilities to keep their walkways clear. Staff begin clearing snow at 5am and finish around 8:30am, as after this time the sidewalks are too busy to safely continue to plow. Let's all work together to keep Downtown Orillia safe and clear in the winter! Thank you for your cooperation!

See You On The Patio Survey

syotp.jpg

Did you participate in the #SeeYouOnThePatio this summer? Whether you did - or didn't - we want to hear from you!

Take the See You on the Patio Business Feedback Survey to provide feedback on the See You on the Patio program. Even those who businesses didn’t get a chance to come out are encouraged to take the survey so that we can understand how the program can be adapted in the future.

Anyone who takes the survey is eligible to qualify for a draw to win one of two prizes of $100 Downtown Dollars. The survey will be active until Friday, Nov. 5, 2021 at noon.

Access the survey and more here.

Parking Tickets

Just a reminder that when taking parking tickets from customers, the customer must fill out the ticket legibly as Bylaw has made the request that they need to be able to see all the information in order to cancel the ticket. Tickets MUST be submitted to us within 7 days of the ticket date. Customers must fill out the bottom section of the ticket on the back with their name, address and phone number.

The ticket form that they must fill out to accompany the ticket stating that they have not had a ticket withdrawn through our program this year can be downloaded here. Call or email the office to have your tickets picked up or you can send your customers here directly.
