SCRAM Program

Orillia’s Security Camera Registry and Mapping (SCRAM) Program is a community-based crime prevention opportunity that enlists the help of Orillia residents and businesses to voluntarily identify their residential or business video surveillance location through a simple and secure online form located on the City of Orillia website. Identified addresses will be mapped on a database of surveillance camera locations for OPP officers to quickly and effectively direct resources when investigating criminal offences in neighbourhoods.

Already own a security camera and want to register it?  Register your camera with SCRAM. 

Security Camera Rebate Program

The Security Camera Rebate Program provides a rebate to residents and businesses who purchase and install security camera systems on their property and register them using the SCRAM Program. 

The program provides a rebate of up to 50% of the value of the installed security camera system to a maximum of $500 per property address. The next rebate intake deadline is October 31!

Recently purchased a new camera system or are planning on purchasing one?  Apply for the Security Camera Rebate Program.

As of the first week of October, the Downtown Management Board office will have a debit/credit terminal in the office. Previously, we have only been able to accept cash or a cheque in exchange for purchasing Downtown Dollars. Now customers will be able to use debit/credit/Apple Pay, etc. We will also begin selling Downtown Dollars online too!

This year the DMB is adding some light decor pieces to the downtown during the Christmas holiday season! Each downtown block will receive a large illuminated display piece. A great photo opportunity for selfies and families! To help offset costs and purchase more, we are implementing a tiered sponsorship program for members to donate money towards these decor pieces. Sponsoring businesses will be recognized for their donation alongside the light decor piece they have sponsored as well as on our social media platforms.

Each week customers who spend $20 or more in the Downtown, will be entered in a weekly $50 Downtown Dollar draw. Customers will need to submit a receipt with their contact information to our office via emailing [email protected] to be entered in the draw. Customers can submit multiple receipts for multiple entries. Each draw will occur the following Monday morning.

Additionally, we are asking interested businesses to donate prizes with a retail value of $50 for a grand prize winner at the end of October. We will add $200 worth of Downtown Dollars to the grand prize as well. If your business is interested in donating a prize to the grand prize, please contact the office at [email protected]. 

The campaign is being boosted on social media to reach a wider audience.

It’s that time of year again! As the Kids’ Halloween Costume Parade will not be taking place this year due to COVID-19 restrictions, we’ve taken our costume contest online again! Kids can get all dressed up in their fabulous costumes and submit a picture to our Downtown Orillia email: [email protected]! Costume pictures must be submitted to the Downtown Office by October 31st at 11:59pm to be included in the contest.

We will be voting on our top five favourite costumes and the winners will receive a prize of Halloween candy and some Downtown Dollars! The winners will be featured on our social media pages, and winners will be contacted to come pick up their prizes in a safe manner.

Just a reminder that when taking parking tickets from customers, the customer must fill out the ticket legibly as Bylaw has made the request that they need to be able to see all the information in order to cancel the ticket. Tickets MUST be submitted to us within 7 days of the ticket date.Customers must fill out the bottom section of the ticket on the back with their name, address and phone number.

Starting September 22, here is what you will need to enter certain businesses and organizations:

• Proof of vaccination (paper or digital copy of your vaccine receipt)
• Proof of identity that shows your name and date of birth (photo ID not required)

Why do I need to show my ID? So businesses and organizations can ensure the vaccination receipt belongs to the right person.

Christmas Kick-off - November 19-21

Start working on your holiday lights and window displays! Since we cannot move forward with the Children's Candlelight Parade due to COVID-19 restrictions, Downtown Orillia and the Orillia District Chamber of Commerce are working together on Light Up Orillia 2021. Businesses are encouraged to amp up their holiday displays and register to be on the light tour. This will bring people downtown and the best displays will win prize money! More details about upcoming events/promotions to come!

It's almost time for BLACK FRIDAY in Downtown Orillia and this promotion just keeps attracting more and more customers! The office will be selling Downtown Dollars at half off once again and expects to sell out before noon.
