Free Summer Cinema
Santa Barbara County Courthouse Sunken Garden

To celebrate the 7th year of Free Summer Cinema, how could the movie theme be anything
but movies starring that most debonair (and gorgeous) of spies, 007 himself, Bond -  James Bond.

The villains, larger than life. The women, gorgeous and lethal. The cars, fast and sleek. One of the highest-grossing franchises of all time, James Bond's reign on cinema screens worldwide has spanned 55 years, starting in 1962 with Dr. No, starring Sean Connery, through 2015's Spectre, starring Daniel Craig. Over the course of 24 films and six Bond actors, the James Bond character - along with the megalomaniacal supervillains, memorable henchmen, unforgettable Bond girls, and of course, the gadgets - have captured the imaginations of generations. Seven Bond films that top many best-of lists will be screened in chronological order to reveal Bond's evolution over the decades:

Dr. No - Friday, July 7
From Russia with Love - Friday, July 14
Goldfinger - Friday, July 21
You Only Live Twice - Friday, July 28
The Spy Who Loved Me - Friday, August 11
GoldenEye, Friday - August 18
Skyfall, Friday -August 25

Outdoor screenings take place under the stars on Friday evenings at 8:30 p.m. at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse Sunken Garden. Bring blankets, low-back beach chairs (seat must be no more than six inches above the ground), a to-go meal from a Downtown Santa Barbara restaurant, blankets and your friends. Film-goers may begin setting up on the lawn at noon on the day of the Courthouse screenings.

And just because we know you've been waiting for it: "Shaken, not stirred."

Admission to all film screenings is FREE.

Non-Profits to Know:

Doctors Without Walls - Santa Barbara Street Medicine

"Dedicated to providing free, volunteer medical care for the most vulnerable of Santa Barbara County, when and were they are in need,
 and to provide education."

Doctors Without Walls-Santa Barbara Street Medicine (DWW-SBSM) was founded in 2005 by three family physicians: Mark Stinson, MD, Sabina Diehr MD and Noemi "Mimi" Doohan, MD PhD. The creation of DWW was inspired by the need for local humanitarian medical volunteerism in response to disasters both acute, such as 9-11 and Hurricane Katrina, and chronic, such as poverty and homelessness.

Using these models of volunteer homeless and disaster medicine, the DWW programs were designed and implemented. DWW was a founding member, and continues to be closely affiliated with, the International Street Medicine Collaborative. This important Street Medicine affiliation enables them to study and implement best-practices, network globally, and advocate for those they serve.

The organization's name was changed to Doctors Without Walls-Santa Barbara Street Medicine (DWW-SBSM) in 2008 in order to emphasize the connection with the international street medicine movement. Integral to all of the DWW-SBSM programs is the goal of creating social change/social justice models for health care that can be efficiently scaled up in response to unmet community needs.
