The  Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation (DSIC) and Capital Region Chamber have partnered for the fifth straight year to drive community awareness of Small Business Saturday and officially kick off the holiday shopping season for Schenectady's  local businesses.

The DSIC and Chamber have encouraged businesses to create in-store specials, contests, discounts and other activities on Small Business Saturday, all aimed at boosting local excitement for the day and bringing customers to Schenectady for a full day of shopping, dining and exploring. A special time for visitors with Autism Spectrum Disorders to experience the museum with their families. Guests are invited to enjoy a sensory-friendly museum environment with hands-on exhibits and activities, and a special 11am planetarium show.

Take a safe glimpse at the sun! Educators from the Dudley Observatory at miSci will operate our 14-inch telescope inside the roll-top roof observatory, allowing visitors to safely look at the sun and search for sunspots. Other objects such as the moon and planets may also be visible. In the event of poor weather, we will have hands-on activities indoors instead.
