And speaking of the website ...
We're so proud and excited to announce that the Downtown Staten Island website was judged to be the "Best of Staten Island" in the city-wide .nyc "Best of the Boroughs" competition.

Pictured here, Project Manager Janet Dugo receives the $5,000 prize from New York City's Chief Technology Officer M. Alby Bocanegra.

We'll be pouring those funds right into our work helping revitalize the Downtown Staten Island commercial district!
UPCOMING EVENTS >
Holiday Lights
We hope you got a chance to take in the holiday light display that ran along Bay Street in St. George, Tompkinsville, and Stapleton last year.

Neighborhood reaction was fantastic! As one resident put it:

My husband and I decided to eat out at a Bay Street restaurant, just so we could stroll there and enjoy the lights!

It was so successful, we're doing it again this year!
Cinema Connex
One of our Neighborhood 360° program partners -- Staten Island Arts -- has some big news!

After successfully launching Sonic Gates and CourtYard Fridays this past summer, they're now bringing a FREE film series to Downtown Staten Island called Cinema Connex.

It kicks off with a 30th anniversary screening of "Working Girl" - the story of a Staten Islander with big ambitions - at the St. George Theatre on December 6 at 7pm.

STREET ART >
100 Gates Project
The 100 Gates Project came to Staten Island this year and showed how a shop that's closed for the day can still be a fun place to visit!

They connected local artists with merchants to have beautiful murals painted on 50 roll-down security gates across Downtown Staten Island.
STOREFRONT IMPROVEMENT >
Stapleton Storefront Enhancement Grant Program
This summer we helped 15 businesses in Stapleton make improvements to their storefronts with things like lighting, signage, painting, and planter boxes.

Massimo Felici, owner of Vinum Wine Bar and co-owner of The Richmond, who participated in the program, said:

"Customers have been saying how great the new sign looks. And it's becoming a chain reaction in the neighborhood. Other businesses are starting to fix up their fronts, too."

To receive a copy of our booklet that shows the completed improvements, send us an EMAIL or call us at 718-727-1900.

Better yet -- head over to enjoy a meal on the new "restaurant row" that's popping up there and see for yourself!
TAKING IT TO THE STREET >
DOWNTOWN STATEN ISLAND
WEEKEND WALK
2018
On Saturday, October 13, Bay Street near Tappen Park was closed to traffic and open for fun as we hosted the first-ever Downtown Staten Island Weekend Walk!

Restaurants had outdoor cafe-style seating, musicians performed, and people of all ages played "giant" games and watched sporting events -- including a live BMX bike exhibition and a Staten Island vs. Brooklyn stickball double-header.

Big thanks to all our community partners who helped make the day special. Check out our social media to see all the fun.

It was so nice, we may have to do it twice!

Stay tuned ...
