WELCOME >
Happy Summer!

The change of seasons from Spring into Summer is finally here, and Downtown Staten Island is buzzing with activity.

Along with the grand opening of Empire Outlets, a number of other new businesses are opening their doors along Bay Street. To all, we say welcome!

We've been busy, too -- sprucing up the streets with things like landscaping and lighting. Plus, we've planned some outdoor events for all to enjoy, including the upcoming Make Music NY on Friday, June 21 - with FREE outdoor music. Hope to see you there!

Warm regards,
Linda M. Baran
President & CEO

#DTSICultureCourse
Saturday, June 15, saw the first-ever Downtown Staten Island Culture Course fun run/walk.

We couldn't have ordered up better weather for the inaugural event, that brought together serious runners and casual strollers. The course covered 7 miles from Fort Wadsworth to Snug Harbor, winding its way past a dozen cultural institutions.

Big thanks to our partners on this event -- Borough President James Oddo's Office of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Staten Island Running Association, Empire Graphics, and NYC Parks, along with all the volunteers and the participating cultural institutions: Fort Wadsworth; Alice Austen House; Museum of Maritime Navigation & Communication; Garibaldi-Meucci Museum; Sri Lankan Art & Cultural Museum; SI Makerspace; Staten Island Arts; Stapleton Waterfront Park; Lyons Pool & Recreation Center; National Lighthouse Museum; SI Borough Hall; 9/11 Postcards Memorial; and Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden.
NEIGHBORHOOD BEAUTIFICATION >

"I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree"

So said poet Joyce Kilmer -- and we agree!

Especially when that tree is surrounded by fresh mulch and pretty plantings.

Take a stroll down Bay Street to see all the improvements to the tree beds!
Summer Lights
Who says festive lights are only for the winter holidays? Not us!

Be sure to check out the fun string lights illuminating Bay Street in Stapleton each night now through Labor Day.
