The Power of Collaboration
If you’re a faithful reader of this newsletter, you’ll likely remember that in November, we provided an update on a piece of public art that recently found a new home outside of The MOST. In an article published on Syracuse.com, CNY Arts chronicles how a group of arts organizations, volunteers and building owners came together to ensure the piece, “Beauty is in the EYE of the Beholder,” found a permanent new home on the lawn outside of the museum. Moving the sculpture – which weighs four tons – took several months and plenty of coordination. Jim Emmons of The Syracuse Poster Project and the Public Arts Task Force led the charge to preserve the sculpture, donated by the Icon Companies. CNY Arts provided funding for the move, The MOST offered up a location, and Raulli & Sons Ironworks made the move happen. Onondaga County, the City of Syracuse, the Downtown Committee and David Carnie assisted with the relocation.
