Connecticut Main Street Center Logo
Our mission is to be the catalyst that ignites Connecticut's Main Streets as the cornerstone of thriving communities.
Celebrating Excellence
All across Connecticut, people are working to create great downtowns and Main Streets, cultivating lively, active streets, bustling businesses and engaged citizens. Some, like our 2019 Awards of Excellence winners, are at the top of their game, bringing together people, ideas and actions. Others are progressing on their journey, joining the CMSC network to engage their peers, learn best practices, and coordinate with experts. We salute and support each of them in their efforts and look forward to continuing to work with them to inspire great Connecticut downtowns, Main Street by Main Street.

Town of Stafford Joins Main Street Network
CMSC is thrilled to welcome the Town of Stafford to its Main Street member network. Stafford
consists of the downtown area of Stafford Springs and several more rural villages including Crystal Lake and Hydeville. The downtown sits at the mouth of the Willimantic River, where the mill industry grew up due to its location, becoming the largest industry in the area.

Stafford joins a network of over 80 communities statewide that are working to revitalize their downtowns and commercial centers. With CMSC's assistance, these communities are cultivating the core components of a healthy downtown including: Place, Economic Vitality, Stewardship, Inclusiveness, Sustainability and Transportation
.
