Time of Transition
All organizations are eventually faced with a season of transition, whether caused by economic influences, advances in technology or changes in leadership. With the recent resignation of DPI Director Steve Frevert, DPI now enters such a transition. During his tenure, Steve was a significant cheerleader for historic preservation downtown. DPI will continue to expand on the foundation that he, and those who came before him, have laid.
In the coming months, the work of DPI will continue with the full commitment of the DPI Board and the Greater Burlington Partnership along with support and assistance from Main Street Iowa. The DPI Board of Directors will work closely with Greater Burlington Partnership President Della Schmidt throughout the process of hiring a new Main Street Director.
Looking to the future of downtown Burlington, it will be important to have a strong focus on sustainability of the downtown community by helping businesses to thrive and prosper. Downtown Partners, Inc., a member of the Main Street Iowa communities, will be critical to assisting businesses with economic recovery once the current COVID crisis has passed.
