Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the UW Department of Urology I am thrilled to announce that Alexander Skokan MD has accepted the position of Assistant Professor effective July 1, 2020.
Dr. Skokan received his undergraduate degree from UCLA and his medical doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed urology residency at the University of Pennsylvania Health System and is our current fellow in Genitourinary Reconstruction and Trauma here at the University of Washington. A talented reconstructive urologist, his training and skills align with critical needs for the Department, Harborview Medical Center and the WWMAI region. Dr. Skokan will bring new perspectives on genitourinary trauma care while offering exceptional reconstructive urological care for transgender patients as part of UW Medicine’s expansion of transgender medicine services.
A dedicated teacher, his appointment will further strengthen the tradition of teaching excellence at Harborview for students, residents and fellows. His current research on bladder and urethral injury will be facilitated by new collaborations as a member of the Harborview Injury Prevention Center and the Urology Research Outcomes Collaborative.
Dr. Skokan will serve in all aspects of our mission to heal, comfort, teach and wonder and his commitment to health equity and vulnerable populations will positively impact UW Medicine, Harborview Medical Center and the greater Seattle community as a whole.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Skokan to the Faculty!
Sincerely,
Hunter
