I’m glad to announce that I have appointed Dr. Antonio Burt as our new Chief Academic Officer (CAO). Throughout his tenure as a transformational school leader, Dr. Burt has shown tenacity in removing educational barriers for all children and a deep understanding of teaching and learning. I’m confident that with his expertise in effective academic strategies and considerable knowledge of our community, we will continue on the path to achieving our goals for Destination 2025.
In his current role as Assistant Superintendent of Priority Schools and the iZone, Dr. Burt has been able to successfully manage and support principal supervisors and 46 schools. Throughout his career, he has transformed schools, making them examples of what excellence looks like in public education, and was also part of the education reform movement in Pinellas County, Florida.
As our new Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Burt will work alongside our academic leadership team to maintain consistency within our organization, but continue to place a heightened awareness on teaching and learning. During the remainder of the school year, he will focus on maximizing capacity across all academic areas to increase student achievement, build student relationships and cultivate a strong learning environment and culture.
I believe this is another step in the right direction, and I look forward to continuing our efforts to improve supports for all schools.
Please join in me in congratulating Dr. Burt!
