“This announcement also makes history as Dr. Flynn is the first woman to serve in this office, something that should make all of Kentucky proud,” Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Dr. Ryan Quarles said. “In fact, for the first time in KDA (Kentucky Department of Agriculture) history, more of the Department’s offices are led by women than ever before.”
Kentucky ranks in the middle, No. 26, among the 50 states in market value of agricultural products sold at $5.7 billion.
