Currently the Associate Dean for Students and Health Sciences Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine, Leon ‘Lee’ Jones, MD, will join Georgetown University School of Medicine as the Dean for Medical Education on August 1.

The American Society of Preventive Oncology bestowed one of its highest honors for 2020 and 2021 on two Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center researchers: Jeanne Mandelblatt, MD, PhD, MPH, and Lucile Adams-Campbell, PhD.

Abstract submissions for the virtual 2021 MedStar Health-Georgetown University Research Symposium and the CENTILE Colloquium for Educators in the Health Professions are now being accepted. All MedStar Health and Georgetown University physicians, nurses, researchers, staff, residents and fellows are encouraged to submit abstracts by April 6 at 11:59 p.m. Learn more here.
The GUMC Subcommittee on Faculty Diversity & Inclusion seeks short personal essays, poems, artwork or short videos that capture learner reflections that will enlighten the faculty from current learners, residents or fellows of GUMC and MedStar Health. Submissions should focus on what students wished faculty members knew before they began teaching in order to better enhance the learning process. Submissions of 100-500 words are due by April 30. In memory of Maeve McKean, the Women’s Law and Public Policy Fellowship Program and the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law will support a Maeve McKean Women’s Law and Public Policy-O'Neill Institute Fellow each year to work in the Washington, DC community at an organization focused on solving the most intractable public health issues. McKean was executive director of the Global Health Initiative until her passing in 2020.
