The Panther Post
Monday, January 9, 2023
DPHS Community Member,

This past week was a short three days as our Panthers returned to begin the new year, the third nine-week quarter, and the second semester. I hope you enjoyed a wonderful winter break and a happy new year. Please keep in mind that Report Card final grades will be viewable on Skyward on January 12th.

This week the FAST PM2 will be administered to students on Monday, January 9th for both 9th and 10th grade students. The Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) is a progress monitoring tool that will be administered three times per year to track our students' progress in learning the Benchmarks of Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) For more information about the FAST program, please visit the portal at FLFAST.org.

Please remember that Monday is also National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. If you happen to see either one of our two wonderful SROs, please take a quick moment to thank them for their service. They do an incredible job every school day to help make sure our campus operates in a safe and positive learning environment.

Despite this having been a short school week, this is a rather long Panther Post issue as we have some important reminders and impressive student success stories to share with the community. Thank you very much for reading and best wishes for a healthy and happy new year!

In Panther Pride,

Jackie Ramsey
Principal

National PTA has a long-standing commitment to arts education. The Reflections program provides opportunities for recognition and access to the arts which boost student confidence and success in the arts and in life. Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. This 50+ year-old program helps them explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life. Panther Parents! Please be cautious when dropping your students off in the morning and pay attention to anyone directing traffic. In addition, please DO NOT drop your students off on Turkey Lake Rd as this is extremely unsafe. Instead, please use the designated student drop off loop.

A reminder that vehicles turning right into the Paw Street entrance (student drop-off/parking) should only be turning from the far right lane as this is the only turn lane.
