Homecoming 2021
Homecoming week is here and SGA is once again sponsoring the homecoming dance and activities. We hope all Panthers will participate in what will be a GREAT week!!
Spirit Week will be Monday, October 18 - Friday, October 22. We want as many students as possible to participate in Spirit Week.
The Homecoming Football game will be Friday, October 22 when we take on Olympia High School. Students can purchase tickets for the game using the following link: www.tinyurl.com/HoCovsOT. Tickets are $5.00
The Homecoming Dance will be held Friday, October 29, at Sea World from 8:00 - 11:30 p.m.
Tickets go on sale Monday, October 18 - October 27 or until sold out. Cost of the ticket is $55. Please check the school website or further in the Panther Post for more information (below).
SAC Meeting
The SAC meeting will be this Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. in the Media Center. Please vote for the SAC roster found in this link: https://tinyurl.com/21SACRoster
Tutoring
Tutoring opportunities are available for students. The information regarding all tutoring opportunities can be located in the student body CANVAS course as well as on the school website (under the student tab).
No outside food delivery allowed on campus
We do not allow any outside food delivery service to students i.e. Uber Eats, DoorDash, etc. Food Services will be turned away at the guard gate.
No leaving campus and returning
Students are not allowed to leave campus for lunch or any reason and return. Students who are caught will be subject to consequences including removal of their parking privileges.

This is a great opportunity to have fun and show up to school in a variety of different styles each day! DP Debate Team
In Novice Congressional Debate, Thomas Cohen took 2nd in his chamber. In Varsity Lincoln Douglas, Aiden Invictus finished with an undefeated record against a pool of 34 competitors to take 3rd place. Great job Panthers!

VPA Art Magnet
DP art students celebrated the culture, rich history, and diversity of Hispanic Americans in the annual OCPS Hispanic Heritage Celebration in partnership with the Orange County Government. Our students will have their Hispanic Heritage inspired work on display at the RBELC Gallery (school board building downtown) and in the Orange County Government OCPS Virtual Art Exhibition! Outstanding!

Here they are again! CIS Juniors are hosting "World of the Dead: Celebrating our Ancestors" event on Oct. 27 from 6-8pm. The event will be held outdoors in front of the SC cafeteria. Students who want to help put on the event should stop by room 2-110. All DP Panthers are invited. The event is Free!

College costs are rising faster than general inflation. DPHS students with college plans should see COACH LO for help with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) paperwork. The FAFSA process opened October 1 for 2022-2023.**

Homecoming Football Game (game theme is NEON)
Panthers, this week is our long awaited rivalry homecoming game against Olympia High School! The game will be at Dr. Phillips in the Bill Spoone Stadium. Kickoff will be at 7:00pm and tickets can be purchased on tinyurl.com/HOCOvsOT. If you purchase a ticket through school pay you must pick up your physical ticket on Friday 10/22 during A and B lunch in front of the Media Center and in front of the North Campus Panther. The theme for the game is NEON so we hope to see everyone wearing their Beat Olympia T-shirt and neon accessories to show their Panther Pride!

A Night Under the Northern Lights Dance at SeaWorld
On Friday, October 29th, the Dr. Phillips High School “A Night Under the Northern Lights” homecoming dance will take place in SeaWorld Orlando from 8 P.M - 11.30 PM. All students must bring their IDs by 9 PM at the gate to be admitted into the dance. The tickets will be on sale for $55 from October 18 - 27 (or until they are sold out) on School Pay. Tickets can be picked up from Monday, October 25 to Thursday October 28 near the South Campus Panther during A and B lunches. October is Socktober!
Help support in-need communities throughout Orlando this month by participating in SGA’s Socktober event. If you participate, you’ll get the chance to win prizes later in the month! Donate new pairs of socks in their original containers to the South Campus Media Center or the North Campus Office (Building 19). Used or loose socks cannot be donated in this event.

Teacher of the Month Reminder!
Starting in October, and spanning until the end of the school year, students will vote on who they think is most fitting for Teacher of the Month! This will be submitted via google form and the winner will be revealed on the last Friday of that month. The Google Form will be on Canvas. The three most-highly voted teachers will receive a goodie bag and messages from the students that nominated them!
October is National Anti Bullying Month
Bullying is a serious issue that we need to raise awareness for. When someone is bullied, it can greatly affect their mental health so this week we include this infographic for our DP community:

Looking for community service hours?
Every Monday students clean up different parts of the campus for their community service hours. Manicure Monday takes place in Ms. Spiess' room, 3-112 after school from 2:30 to 3:30 pm. All students are welcome!

Cross Country
The Cross Country teams headed up to Tallahassee last weekend to compete at the FSU Pre-State meet. They had lots of fun on the trip and has some really great runs on a very tough course. They’ll be back at it again this Saturday as they compete for the Metro West Conference title at West Orange high school! Come cheer on your Panther runners! Awww DP!

Dr. Phillips HS Winter Sports Tryout Dates and Contacts
Eligibility Requirements: YOU are required to have a physical and ECG certification on file before you can try out for ANY sport. Please make sure that your physical packet submitted online 48 hours prior to tryouts.
- If you DO NOT have your physical form on file then you CANNOT TRYOUT.
- All students must have at least a cumulative 2.0 GPA or higher to participate.
