A pair of our Student Council representatives with the snack cart they wheeled to every classroom during 5th period on Friday. This was just one of several efforts they made during a wonderful StuCo-led Teacher Appreciation Week to recognize our amazing DP educators as we approach the final five weeks of school. Please see StuCo's success story below!

Thank you very much to our StuCo representatives for all the effort they put into Teacher Appreciation Week. As a reminder to our DP families, if there is a faculty member or staff member that in your opinion has done an extraordinary job this year, kindly take a moment to email them or send them a note. Coming from the community, messages like that are very powerful and mean a great deal.
Thank you for reading. Enjoy your week!

Post 9/11, Imam Tariq and the mosque family have worked relentlessly to bring different communities together in Central Florid to better understand one another and work together to benefit humanity. CIS visits the mosque during their sophomore year "Religious Places of Worship" field trip when they also visit the Buddhist Temple and Hindu Mandir.
Iftar dinner at the mosque includes all faiths and non-Muslims community partners to come and share positivity during the hour before the breaking of Ramadan Fast. DP students and families attended the dinner on April 14-15 and shared their thoughts on the importance of eradicating Islamophobia and supporting Holocaust Education. The message of being an upstander was a common thread throughout the night. A special thank you to the Jama Masjid for bringing all walks of life together and the invitation to Ramadan dinner!

Education Pays: A final reminder for our Class of 2023
Four times per year, the U.S. Department of Labor - Bureau of Labor Statistics, publishes their quarterly report on median weekly earning by educational attainment. Their report for the first quarter of 2023 came out this past Tuesday, April 18. What they found is not surprising as the pattern has not changed since they began their reporting decades ago. Overall, and right through U.S. economic recessions, those with higher levels of education took home the larger paychecks.
Weekly earnings for the 2023 first quarter: Less than a high school diploma = $682; High school graduates, no college = $884; Some college or associate degree = $995; and Bachelor's degree and higher = $1,621 (Bachelor's degree only = $1,488).
|
|
Footnote for DP Seniors: The chart shows quarterly results since the start of the 21st century. Other factors will naturally come into play such as the type of industry you work in, your geographic location, experience on the job, your employer's performance/profitability, etc. but overall, the pattern has always held up in the USA. Education and income levels are closely related.
