The Panther Post
Monday, December 11, 2023
DPHS Community Member,

Congratulations to our dance students on what was a magnificent performance on Saturday, December 2. Their Winter Wonderland performance was incredible and reflected what was no doubt a tremendous amount of training and rehearsal time. If you could not make it to the Winter Wonderland performance, there is another excellent opportunity on Friday, January 12 with our "Celebration of Dance" - TICKETS. Please get your tickets soon and choose your seats!

With the exception of Wednesday which remains an "early release" day, on the other four school days this week we will be operating from modified bell schedules due to PM2 and CFE testing. Information on this week's assessments can be found in the Panther Post testing segment along with the four daily bell schedules. Please be sure to be at school, on time, each testing day. It also important that students bring to school their laptops fully charged along with their laptop chargers.
Congrats to our Girls Basketball team for taking home the West Metro Championship vs. West Orange! The girls won 51-19!
Congratulations to the Pantherettes on their first performance of the basketball season. You ladies did a great job.
Panthers, as you prepare for exams this week keep in mind that you, and your teachers, have worked very hard for four months to reach this point. Here are two final reminders:

1) How you think is everything. Sometimes called "Crunch-Time Confidence," keep in mind that you have done the work this semester and are prepared. Don't let any anxiety eat away at your confidence. Defuse any negative thoughts this week which are useless.

2) Execute last minute winning moves. First, get your rest the night before a test and be sure to eat breakfast the day of the test. Also, before you turn out the lights the evening before an exam, double check to make sure your computer is charged up and your bookbag is good to go. Keep the faith in yourself and remember this: whether it is a state assessment or an CFE, what they both represent is opportunity. That is, a chance to show just how much you have learned this year, which is quite considerable.

Panthers, prepare to make this a very successful week!

Testing this Week
Daily Bell Schedules
Panther families and students, please be advised that we will be following a modified block schedule this coming week to accommodate testing for semester classes (CFE’s) as well as PMA’s in many of our state-tested classes.

● Wednesday, December 13th will be a normal short Wednesday.

● Please remind students to check the bell schedule daily to ensure they are heading to the correct classes. On Thursday, they will be attending lunch based on their 6th period class, NOT 5th period. Buildings 100, 200 & 300 eat B lunch and every other building eats A lunch.

● Panther families, please remind your students to bring their school computers in every day, with their chargers, as these are computer-based tests.

Cards and other items prepared to help the homeless at holidays by Beta Club
Beta Club students hosted a community service event on Friday December 1. At the event, students from Beta Club, Student Council, and other organizations came together to make sandwiches and cards that went to REACH of Central Florida to give out to homeless people around Lake Eola on Sunday, December 3.
Three students: Joann Ng (11th grade), Sumeera Goolie (11th grade), and Vivien Zheng (10th grade) are REACH members and attended the distribution on Sunday.
Junior Joann Ng had this to say about the event: “I volunteered our school to help make sandwiches for REACH (they needed 3 high schools to each make 100 sandwiches). I was in charge of the community service event and introduced it to others through Beta Club. Making the cards was an additional idea of mine. I believed it was a good opportunity to get people involved in community service and to show support to the homeless people in our community."
Holiday cards our Beta Club created for the homeless community.
